If you have an Apple ID, you can enable locate on your iPad. If your iPad syncs to your iCloud account, maybe they will be nice enough to leave photographs for you and the police. Definitely contact Apple and see if they can help locate your iPad. Where it is...your other things will likely be as well.Quote:

I'm going to respond to the questions in one post instead of trying to quote everyone. We do have a dog but she wasn't home at the time. I don't think that would have mattered as she rarely barks and I fear they would have caused her more harm the she did them. I will not give any details on the security system, but the only thing it lack is armed security guards. The Broomfield cops were nothing short of awesome. As soon as I realized that someone had been in the house, I called 911 the proceeded to clear the house room by room just in case. When the first two officers arrived they did the same. Neither officers said a word about the pistol on my hip when they came to the door. For reference I'm at midway and Sheridan. This was a quick grab and go job judging by what was taken and what was left behind. If it had been planned and scouted they would have taken much more. As for as the iPad goes, I did not have find my iPad installed so that is of no help and when I contacted AT&T the could not locate any of my account info.
Broomfield police are usually pretty cool. We have used them a lot for intervention and teaching moments with our foster kids when we still had them. My house used to be just down the street from you off of 7th and Ash off of midway there. Never had a lot of crime in 8 years. Only major thing we had was someone tagging out fence and front rocks in the yard with spray paint. There use to be a halfway house just down the street from me off of 7th and Birch, but nothing really ever happened. The police patrol a lot down in that area. My neighbors always looked out for each other. You must have been cased first or somehow someone knew no one was home and you had good stuff. Let your neighbors know to be on the look out.Quote:

I've been the victim of a home burglary as well. On my birthday no less. I was pissed. I wished I was home when they broke in the front door so that they could have "earned" their true reward.
In the end, it was "stuff" that was lost and insurance replaced most of it. The feeling of having your home violated takes a while to get over. Glad the family is safe.
my wife was never interested in having a gun close by, that is until yesterday. I asked her last night if she wanted a pistol close by, her immediate was yes. She stayed home today to get things going and took the pistol everywhere with her. The whole situation has her uneasy as it does me. Knowing that someone was in my home is the most uncomfortable feeling. It is a sad day when you have to arm yourself inside your own home.Quote:

Do you think any of your neighbors may have seen anything? Does your neighborhood have a Nextdoor.com site? There may have been other people that were hit as well, and you could pool information and/or locate possible witnesses.
Keep an eye on Craigslist and ebay for the piggy bank....and maybe even pawn shops. If you have a photo of the piggy bank, you can upload it and do an image search on Google.

My neighbors are amazing. The cops talked to all of my neighbors and the officer told us that he had never gotten so much information from neighbors after an incident. My neighbors gave descriptions of 5 different vehicles that were seen parked in front of the house with times that they were seen. One neighbor even came over this evening apologizing profusely that he didn't see more or hadn't stopped this from happening.Quote:
