BGC fees can get to $100 before I give a shit because so much more stuff will be way beyond effed up by then, it really won't matter.

CBI will be very, very profitable at $15.00. Having ran thousands of 4473's, I can tell you the FFL does 90% of the work for them, the actual labor time spent per check per CBI employee is probably about 3 minutes at most and they don't waste much time. 20 checks per hour per employee = $300/hour. Considering that in any industry, employees are almost always the biggest expenditure, it's hard to believe that the labor is only 5% of CBI's overhead. (Or 10% if we assume management costs = actual labor costs, which would be.. exaggerated).

Let's also not forget that the databases they search are not maintained by CBI - instacheck software is not complex - at all. Developing the software to gather and process 4473's on the dealer end and submit them is far more complex.

We need an external audit. When it comes to the state of CO, TRUST NOTHING.

Thanks for that explanation. I still would like to know how many employees at CBI are dedicated to BGC for firearms purchase, and on-average, how many each runs per day. If they up the cost, they should increase staffing and days where we have to wait an hour + for a background check to be complete should be a thing of the past. Of course this won't be the case.

I am opposed to paying the CBI to run these checks in the first place. Ever bought a rifle out of state? The Federal BG check is free and much faster than going through CBI, even for a non-resident purchase. One time the guy at Sportsman's Warehouse in WY actually apologized to me because the wait was so long. It took 3 minutes.

Edit; Not free, but already paid for.

I'd be interested to see how a CO Constitution amendment dictating that fees are now subject to TABOR restrictions would do. My bet is it'd go down in flames thanks to all the Californication going on, but wouldn't that be a nice way to shut them down.

At least the bar has been raised for constitutional amendments. Too bad some really bad ones (IMO) got in there before that happened.
