I just use the whole 'watch Braveheart', that's what my family had to endure. Local lord: Congrats on the wedding, but as is the right we British lords have over you Scots I will now sleep with your new bride.
I think also if American History shows, the Irish, Scottish, and other immigrants from Europe were stoned, beaten, assaulted, mistreated and denied jobs when they first got here... look at us today though! We're not killing each other in record numbers, and 1/4 of us aren't in some form of corrections process (current or past).

Damn right. And some of this country's greatest leaders are from Scottish or Irish descent.
I am of mostly Scottish descent. My last name is a major city in Scotland. Oppression is nothing new. Our ancestors just chose to better themselves, rather than wallow in self pity for shit that happened a very long time ago.
