I've only read through the first 2 pages of the current 5 pages of this thread and I'm dismayed and disappointed by many of the responses I've seen already. I couldn't wait to read through the other 60+ posts before posting my own response.
Not only do I not expect a response to my post, I really discourage anyone from responding to it.
First off, I barely looked into the thread in question because it's not what peaks my interest and I think every other mod/admin on the site was watching the thing. In fact, I don't come to the CO-AR15.com Forums to view erotic images. If I want to see that stuff, at least 20% of the rest of the internet has plenty - I'll go there to view it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this site IS a family oriented site. We get men (some are gentlemen), and ladies, and, yes, some children who visit this site. Because of this, I've asked before that we monitor the language we use. How much more so should we self-censor our images?
Sure, I've heard the arguement that this should be limited to adults (I disagree with that stance - see my response below). I've also hear that if anyone doesn't care for the use of foul language here then perhaps this isn't the site for them. Again, I disagree. Just because we 'tote guns' doesn't mean that we can't monitor ourselves and show some self-restraint. While I'm aware that the membership of this site come from every socio-economic and education level concievable, we don't need to play into the stereotype that the anti's paint us all into.
Sure, I can curse with the best of them - after all, I served in the military for 20 years, I've seen, heard, and participated in things that would make most people blush. I can curse up a strorm to such a level that if I were to walk into a sailors bar and start my tirade, one could expect many of them to come running out 60 seconds later with their ears covered. I don't use that language here - out of respect for you, the membership. I believe that you deserve better than that from me. The thing is, I'd also like to believe that I deserve the same from YOU.
My response to that is another question: With parental/adult supervision, why aren't MORE kids on this site. Many, if not most of us on this site come from a family heritage of gun ownership, but some of us do not. With the constant attack on our firearms freedoms, we need to be reaching out to our youth and showing them that firearms use and ownership is more than a joy and a Right, but it's also a responsibility. We need to start with these kids as young as we possibly can because I assure you that the anti's are reaching out to your kids, neices/nephews, and grandkids every single day.
Oh, he knew very well, but he was really hoping that the membership (in totale) would prove him wrong, so he gave you (the membership) a chance.
Down in the Mod section, Marlin was your most vocal and adamant advocate. He was repeatedly told how things would go and urged to remove the thread straight away. He held out hope that the membership here would show they had class. Most of you do; some don't.
No matter what else I type, I couldn't possibly state it better than you just did. I know that you, Hurley, get it!
Fixed it for you:

I Kid, I Kid!
Holy shit..
Did Byte just help me?
Where is Byte and what did you do with him!
Actually, thanks.. I've never in all my time on forums known howTF to do that.. I thought people were actually taking the time to copy/paste and use those [ ] things..
Kids on the Forum: My family sees me surfing this site most of the time, the wife reads some items if I point them out. The children catch glimpses of photos, firearms and related, I'll show them items of interest or for helping train them if I see it. I'm sure there are some actually signed up on the forum. The wife had seen me browsing through the photo thread, just laughed at me and went on her way. I personally wasn't amused at that one photo, and am glad it was taken down. I didn't think that thread would last.
I pulled the thread up at work and showed a couple of my buddies. There is no way I would have opened it at home with my kids right there. That kind if thread is just not needed.
After reading this thread and realizing how many kids and women might be on here, I've decided to clean up my langauge in here from now on. I think I can express myself without cursing, at least I can try. It doesn't mean I have to be a saint or anything but I'm going to watch my langauge.

Ginsue, I agree with you 100%. I glanced at that thread but never posted in it cause it's a bit juvinal. I have better sights for my jollys (pm me if you want it). My direction was that it was going in the direction of the Internet parenting kids rather than parents. Let's face it kids know of the aforementioned website as much as adults. This site defiantly needs more kids to learn not only of a fabulous hobby but the rights that come with it. At the same time I also like to think of this site as a place where me and my cyber friends can hang out, and maybe tell a dirty joke or two.
To say that someone might get offended by those images will open the door to every single complaint ever. Maybe we have some avid gun owners that truly support Obama and don't take kindly to to us bad mouthing their commander in Cheif. Or some immerigants that believe everyone in this country has a right to be here.
My point is that no one will ever be pleased. To say scantly clad women is offenseive is dumb I've seen worse at the pool.
The image in question though as I stated before is in bad taste cause it violates every gun safety/rule/guideline/common sense ever written. That I will have to take not nessarly offense but anger for being so carless with firearms.
I really like this site but I dot want it to turn into ar15.com or the CMP forum.
So with that go wings. And long live the queen.
.
I missed the thread in question and did not see that pic, but if it is true that some imbecile posted a pic of a woman with the barrel of a handgun in her mouth, here on a forum dedicated to gun safety and populated with many individuals who have seen the end result of that sort of activity, they should be permabanned for that bullshit. I can understand very well why Marlin flipped out over that. Scantily clad women or tasteful nudes might be considered "inappropriate" for what some consider to be a family forum, but girl with a gun in her mouth? That shit belongs on 4chan and other internet troll imageboards. Fuck whoever posted that shit! Not funny, not cool, and you're an asshole.
wait, the firearm was in her mouth?
well, that's not bad.
not appropriate for this site, but I thought she stuck it somewhere else. when I see five asterisks the first word I think of is not 'mouth'. guess I have a dirty mind.
still violates the four rules.
Doesn't seem like a big deal. Art is pretty subjective.
Lame, I missed that entire thread too, because i didn't want to look at it at work...
I missed most of the thread. Most wimmen and guns show some bimbo in an erotic pose with a gun with no idea of how to handle it. Silly stuff.
OTOH, I have seen some pictures of women who can handle guns. As long as it is a bit cheesecake and not porn I'll look. There have been some great ones of women in the Israeli army. They are trained how to handle those weapons. Right now on the AK Forums there is a contest for Miss Red Star Arms. There is one young lady who looks normal, and quite nice. My heart melted when I saw her handling a handgun, pointing it up with her trigger finger straight out resting on the trigger guard.
This forum must be rough for the mods. Guys together can act like boys so adult supervision is needed. I do agree that this site should be safe for kids and generally use mild language.
