I had the exact same surgery a few years ago. Piece of cake. Out-patient. In the hospital for 5 or 6 hours I think and most of that was recovery from anesthesia. A little pain for about a day but I only took one pain pill and tossed the rest. He'll probably put you on extremely light duty for a while though. 6-8 weeks for me I think where I wasn't supposed to lift anything of significant weight. So if you actually work for a living ;) you'll need to investigate your short and long term disability or FMLA. The light duty is for the muscle to weave trough the mesh.
Biggest bonus is that you'll have a half circle scar under your belly button that is just 2 lipstick marks from being a smiley face.
