I had the exact same surgery a few years ago. Piece of cake. Out-patient. In the hospital for 5 or 6 hours I think and most of that was recovery from anesthesia. A little pain for about a day but I only took one pain pill and tossed the rest. He'll probably put you on extremely light duty for a while though. 6-8 weeks for me I think where I wasn't supposed to lift anything of significant weight. So if you actually work for a living you'll need to investigate your short and long term disability or FMLA. The light duty is for the muscle to weave trough the mesh.

Biggest bonus is that you'll have a half circle scar under your belly button that is just 2 lipstick marks from being a smiley face.

Prayers going out that God guides the hands of the surgeon and that all goes well!

I just had shoulder surgery yesterday - bad SLAP tear and a bone spur. I guess the recovery isn't so bad when you're enduring a lot of pain before you go in. I've got months of rehab ahead, but I can still work on the computer, which is what I do for a living. Hopefully you'll bounce back quickly and will not be impacted by what you do for a living. Just make sure you follow their guidance so you don't end up undoing the repair.

My surgeon might have been interpreted to be 'nonchalant', but it's more a reflection of the confidence he has in his skill and experience. In my eyes I'm thinking this is a big event...including general anesthesia. In his eyes, this was truly not a challenge. 45 minutes and DONE! They day after the surgery, I think he was right.

Thoughts and prayers, Brother. Here's hoping for a speedy and complete recovery. BTW-hernia surgery is another situation where getting stoned and watching 3 Stooges DVDs may NOT be the best idea...

    YO COFI YOU ALRIGHT? ?

What's the 411? He should be out of recovery, in to a room,Or home, if it's outpatient
. Unless his "hernia" surgery, was done down Trinidad way.

Good call. I hope he drew on himself so they don't accidentally give him the wrong surgery.
