Ground Zero Mosque

the problem is Americans dont understand and dont want to understand islam. they base their religious beliefs on non-violent religions(at least at present) budhism, hinduism, Judaism, Christianity these religions make Americans think that we can coexist. But the exception is islam. the religion is based on non coexistance. while some members dont actively kill non members, this is fundamental teaching, and the radicalization of islam is moving forward quickly. it is not being tempered by the supposedly not extremist ones. which means in the future, much more of the muslims will be extreme. and since Americans wont breed, and muslims are required to breed, we will lose the demographic battle. dont lose your head.

it is inappropriate and disrespectful, and they know it. that's why they're doing it.

I'm not advocating the outlaw of islam in New York, or the U.S., or the revocation of freedom of religion.

I'm just suggesting they show a little God damned respect and common sense.

as long people delude themselves into thinking that we somehow need to take the high road, that we can't "stoop to their level" or else we'll "be no better than the terrorists" we are doomed to failure.

after reading this thread, it makes me happy to know that some folks out there aren't completely oblivious or worse willfully ignorant to what's going on.

You're completely recasting what I said. I don't support the idea of building a mosque there at all. No, it's not respectful or particularly good manners, but we don't legislate that. I did say we have rules governing our country, and as much as you may find that inconvenient, they're designed to protect you, too. Again, why don't you head on over to places where there's no free speech and no freedom of religion and see how you like it. (You alluded to not being able to put a Christian church in Mecca, so I assume you wouldn't much like it.)

I also didn't say anything about being better than the terrorists or taking the high road. I don't associate Islam with terrorism. Islamic terrorists are a very small minority, but like all other crazy extremists, they are very vocal. Moderates of any stripe tend to just go about their lives, while extremists develop causes and cause trouble. We'd be much better off without bigots and extremists on both sides. I'd say we'd be better off without religion as a cause to rally behind, but to be honest we'd just find another reason to pick sides, establish an us vs. them, and hate them. It's humanity's sad lot, it seems.

I am neither a bigot nor an extremist, I have hired and fired and been friends with many minorities in all of my businesses and my personal life.

The truth of the matter is I recognize a threat when I see it. I don't buy into the theory that most muslims are peaceful. If they were they would have taken care of the extremists in their ranks on their own. I believe the muslims that claim to be civil are only civil until their numbers grow and they feel the strength of those numbers. Paris is a perfect example. Those so called mainstream, peaceful muslims showed their true colors.

I believe they practice passive aggression, when their numbers are greater than our they will turn on you.

As for the illegal aliens, they are the same way. I know many mexicans who are american citizens, they dislike the illegals even more than we do. They recognize the threat and are pi...d off because they struggled to do the right thing. The illegals fully believe they have a right to regain their stolen lands and that they belong here. There is a chain mexican restaurant here in Colorado called Fiesta Jalisco, I do not know if the same oil painting is in every one of their restaurants, but in at least one (silverthorne) there is a giant oil painting in the front entry for their mexican clientele to read "Este es su tiera" in giant red letters. For those of you who cannot speak spanish it translates THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY.

I don't eat there any more. Probably because I am a bigot.... whatever.

Aside from the kidnappings, drugs, and murders that are occurring on a daily basis they are a financial threat. As a self employed person who has had to pay my own health insurance for the last 20 years I can tell you they are a financial threat. Their are so many babies born to illegals in the state of Colorado, the insurance companies will no longer provide maternity care to anyone who is not in a large group plan. The cost of covering the births to illegals has driven the cost up for those with insurance. The insurance companies will no longer cover it. I know I went through it. We had let our maternity coverage lapse because we thought we were done having kids. It was no longer available when we needed it. I have at least two other friends who found out the same thing when they tried to get it.

On another note: they interviewed the border patrol on KHOW last year. The captain they spoke with stated that they only catch 1 of 10 and that 7 of the ten they do catch have a serious criminal record in mexico. Rape, assault, bank robbery, murder, these are not just hard workers looking for better life. I have a mexican american client right now looking for a home to purchase. He is very scared of the illegals, he has family back in mexico still and they are all very aware of who is coming here. I figured that he would not be for the illegals coming over, but I did not expect to hear him tell of the danger they bring so candidly in our conversations.

One of my clients is friends with Phillipe Calderon the president of Mexico. He is also a mexican business man who contributes a lot to the community of Summit County where he owns some property. He is happy that Calderon has taken on the drug lords in his country, a fight that has cost the lives of nearly 23,000 people since 2007. He is dismayed at Calderon's apparent disregard for the wave of illegal immigration into our country. It is affecting mexico in the opposite fashion. Where we have too many here working. They have a severe shortage of you strong men to build their own homes and buildings. There are villages all over Mexico that do not have labor for their crops and construction.

I owned a home remodeling company for 12 years. I am here to tell you that the illegal aliens are a threat to American craftsmen. I got out cause i saw the tide coming and went back to a previous career path. I was lucky, i know plenty of contractors that went belly up cause they would not hire illegal labor. When i got out the cost for worker's comp for my employees was 38%, yeah 38 cents on the dollar went to worker's comp. Those companies that hire illegal labor are saving 38% on their overhead for labor, not to mention the savings for unemployment (25%), federal withholding tax (17%). The bill for a $36,000 year employeee cost me $64,800.00.

No way a straight up contractor can compete. For those of you that have hired illegal labor to save the costs SHAME ON YOU. If you think your house cost less cause an illegal built it and saved you all that money, you are sadly mistaken. The general just put it in his pockets. This is a threat to our lives and the lives of the illegals, believe it.

Trying to get along with everyone will not do any of us any good. If you are mexican or muslim, I don't have an issue with you personally, come here legally, learn the language, stop using our schools resources to cater to the fact that you can't speak the language, I pay for my kids to learn so should you. Stop using our constitution against us and pay for your birth in your own country, go home and build you own future. If you are muslim, stand up for what is right. If you truly denounce the use of violence then start acting like it. Shut down the extremists in your ranks and call them to justice for their crimes.

Being afraid for your country's future and being willing to do something to protect it does not make you a bigot or a racist or an extremist. IMHO we need to start being a bit more vocal or our way of life will come to a screeching halt. I am raising four future Americans and I am afraid of what lies ahead for them.

Aside from you constantly and confusingly conflating Islam with illegal immigration from Mexico, the riots in Paris that you talk about (presumably you mean the 2005 riots) were nothing to do with Islam or the Danish Muhammad cartoon.
