No, what we need is Herve' Villachase, otherwise known as "Tattoo" on "Fantasy Island"......that lil fucker always knew where the plane was......
"Boss, de plane, de plane.."

I'm just going off what I've heard on the subject... don't shoot the messenger- and no need for the vitriol- I was like 14 when I flew the sim, and despite not doing much else but take off, landing and flying around, it was easy to accomplish those tasks. I'm sure IRL is much more difficult, which is usually why you have to have countless hours before even being considered for anything outside of a single engine prop.
This was years ago, pre-9/11, so they were about as good as they could be for the time and cost of the sim. It was maybe 12 months after the 777 went into service, I can't say for sure. Maybe '99 or '00.
Here is an interesting theory. http://keithledgerwood.tumblr.com/po...-sia68-sq68ere
Someone used the Infinite Improbability Drive.
I think they crashed on some weird island with a fog monster, number station and all kinds of other weird crap that are actually part of some guys dream.
Fair enough. I won't even watch the news anymore because of the sheer idiocy that's being brought forth. Ronin, I could walk you through maneuvering most jets. "Flying" or "Piloting" the craft if much different. It's an extremely dynamic environment where fuel, weather and systems are constantly changing ( not to mention crazy passengers and Stews ). In a lot of ways it's probably like being a cop.....no two days are the same. Pilots are own worst enemy though. The typical bravado usual includes "It's easy". Most of these guys are crapping themselves on their yearly check rides.
To add ........dropping down to wave top level most likely wouldn't leave you with 8 hours of extra gas.

Funny sheeeeit!!
Ok...my thoughts are that the reason they went to a high altitude was to eliminate oxygen and kill or knock out the passengers...then went low to refill the plane with oxygen so the pilots (or whoever was flying the plane at that point) wouldn't have to use the masks.
I suspect someone wanted the plane for use as either a weapon or for terrorism training.
Why are there something like 26 nations now spending money they don't have to look for this thing? I understand it's important but so important that 26 nations are involved? The USA allows tries to help, China has lots of people on board and Malaysia is the home country, but why so many others? The world can never get 26 nations to work together for the same goal. So my questions is, what in the hell do they know that makes so many countries want to be involved in the search effort?
The potential fame and national pride that goes along with finding something lost...just spit-balling. There is also the training aspect. Technology sharing with those who know what they are doing is "cheap" training. I have now worked several major accidents/fires where the BATF, HMS showed up on site and requested to work alongside. They had no authority, were not called in, but saw it as an uncontrolled event that let them field train agents with no potential downside. There were some agents that sorely needed the training, and another set of eyes was never a bad thing.
Why do millions of Americans spend their weekends on geocaching excursions?
I heard after 5 days the plane becomes finders keepers. Pretty sure that is a rule we all learned as kids.
Probably a pretty security issue to have an unaccounted for airplane after 9/11.
oh okay than. Sort of like the poeple that don't know how to type and have to hunt out for the keys? Oh little kids hide our car keys and think its funny when we have to play hide and seek? yeah. I guess it's in our nature to find/search for things.... still looking for the millions of dollars I lost last year :D
I have to admit that this guy theory makes totally sense... maybe more than the official ones.

A fire in the cockpit has been brought up repeatedly on Megyn Kelly's show. One of the accident investigators felt it was a likely explanation for loss of comm. It certainly makes more sense than hijacking by a stowaway [facepalm] but doesn't explain the continued transmissions that were supposedly received up to 6 hours after the plane disappeared if the pilots were pulling breakers. What disgusts me is how much speculation there's been by supposedly knowledgeable people with very limited data.
Didn't they confirm the programmed direction change before the last communication from the pilot?

Thank you to you airline pilots for chiming in. At this point I'm still blaming Iran. Or aliens. Same thing.
Most guys and gals ( that are worth anything ) who fly for a living will never publicly Monday-morning quarterback an incident until there is a linear line of facts. We will beat it to death in the cockpit or at a bar amongst ourselves but not typically in public. The reason being most people don't understand all of the factors ( system based or not ) involved. Just about everyone you see on CNN, FOX or whatever is an idiot looking for a paycheck and notoriety. So the Captain had a sim in his house? Imagine the media speculation involved with a gun owner after a tragic occurrence if they looked into the persons safe.
i blame david copperfield
Or if they found the gun owner had a shooting range in his basement... The underlined is about the most telling and factual statement of the year! I never believe anyone on the MSM anymore, especially when it comes to so-called "Experts." I bet the "experts" in aviation piss you off about as much as the "experts" in military piss me off. They never get it right... hence my sig. [Beer]
I can't even watch it without getting upset.....and that makes my wife upset...so I just get up and leave the room or tune it out when she is watching the five o'clock "entertainment" ( of course Corey Rose with the volume down isn't that bad ). The parrallel you draw with the military is probably spot on.
LOL- five o'clock "entertainment"... That pretty much sums it up. But yes, Corey Rose is... wow... [Love2]
Anyway...
A friend posted this today- I thought it was hilarious!

The "cockpit fire" theory seems to be unsupported by the data, given that the plane made multiple direction changes, hours after the loss of communications.
As soon as N Korea can get some electric they plan to announce they have the plane.
