Jeeze man, I've never met ya but you have my sympathies and best wishes as well! I've had enough injuries that just hearing about others gives me the willies. And falling scares the shit out of me the older I get. Hell, I've got handrails on the top sides of my pickup bed, and I use them sumbitches!

2008 I stepped out of my truck at work and both feet came right out from under me. Collapsed 3 disc's and spent 8 months out of work only to end up with permanent restrictions.
Been behind a desk ever since.

Sorry to hear about that Carl. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had a close call like that last winter. Head barely touched the ground, but my ribs were sore for weeks. Took about 5 min to get up.

Just a little update:
Workers Comp has been a PITA through this entire ordeal. They initially denied my claim and I was stuck with some of the doctor bills for exams and such. Didn't amount to a lot but it was the principle. My employer isn't the problem and my boss has called several times to check up on things, reassure me my job is waiting, etc. It's their WC carrier. I've been off work with 100% total temp disability since Feb 21. I've had to hire an atty and of course pay him out of my pocket. I chose an hourly rate deal so any settlement wouldn't require the usual 20% routine. So far atty fees have amounted to about $1500.
They finally issued an admission of liability on July 9. I have yet to see any back pay or reimbursement for medical expenses though I'm hoping that comes through soon. They did authorize the rotator cuff surgery and that's scheduled for this Fri (the 16th). I've been living off of savings for the past 6 months and it's about tapped out. I've never had an experience with workers comp like this one.
I've learned a lot about WC law and it's really geared to protecting the employer/insurance carrier...not the worker. The insurance company can use every stalling tactic and trick in the book and no one is accountable as long as they admit liability and eventually provide for treatment. But they can drag it out for a LONG time without any consequences. The only other option is to sue them civilly and that's probably more expensive and could take years before resolution.
I don't understand why they're such a PITA, especially since any amount they have to pay is limited by state laws anyway.
On a side note, I've started practicing with my G19 doing everything one-handed. Drawing, malfunctions, reloads, etc. I haven't spent nearly enough time doing that and it's apparent when I go through a drill. Another day of dry practice them I'm gonna head to the range for some real work.
So, who's had shoulder surgery and how long did recovery take? Did your shoulder return to 100% or do you have issues? Just curious...never had real surgery before so just wondering what to expect. I've heard recovery is a bitch.
