Finally made it down to CMSC to do a ladder test for some new 77gr SMK loads, but it was way to windy. Ended up plinking on the steel for 300 rounds instead.
Shot a bunch of 223 Ackley, 338 Lapua and 416 Rigby this past weekend.
Hit lots of steel with the 223 and 338. Hit a lot of dirt and a little steel with the 416.
Went through a handful or two of Motrin along the way.
Ran the "old" S&W 66 through some drills from 3-15 yards. A couple of young guys there got a kick out of watching lol.
I shoot on some State Land right around there. Is CRC open to new membership?
I do not believe there is a wait for CRC membership.
Did some zeroing in of scopes for new loads. The dilemma is now one of . Always shooting suppressed or not. Oh these 1st world problems. Slightly OT: Big John did a write up (NFA forum) of his BYO pistol can. Impressive is an understatement. 2 more months before my BYO pistol gets approved.
Heading out tomorrow for some try our luck with steel @ distance. That's longer than 25 yds for you Tier 1 shooters.
Scoped out the 3 ranges here in cheyenne. I am pretty sure I will re-join Otto Road Shooting Club. Short and long range shooting (Out to 700), and a couple re-active target bays.
Finished my load workup and sight in of the 30-06 for rifle season.
I think this will do just fine.

I went to Colorado Clays and shot Sporting Clays for the first time ever. Kind of fun, hanging out with an old work buddy and putting the shotgun through some paces. Not a normal day at the range, but something different.
Went to LMI range and sighted the new Remington 700
Finished my load development and shot steel at 400, 500, 600, 700 and 1000 to document new data. MV is 2,585 and Shooter is spot on with real world hits. Steel was freshly painted and I was the only one there. Used .1 gr above and below my final load (44.5 Varget, 175 SMK, 2.005, 2.810- 2.2235) to confirm location on steel center line for correct elevation mils.
Also made some subsonic rounds (TiteGroup 8gr, CCI#200 and the same specs as my normal rounds), with the suppressor it was back yard approved. Hit the 400 yard steel at 16.8 mil drop. Who would have thought it would reach out that far consistently.
Yes sir, .308 Rem 700, 20", 1:10 twist.
Yes I did with a TB CB9 suppressor hanging on the end. First node was dead accurate if you like to shoot groups under 500 yards.

Final node for all around shooting out to 1000 yards and great accuracy.

Practiced Rimfire steel for next weekends world match. Everything ran good except the Federal 36 gr bulk I had recently stocked up on. It would not extract AT ALL. Not in the 41 smith or a 10/22. Now I've about three at bags of stuff that I guess will be fed through bolt guns.
anyone else seen this in federal lately?
Shot a match with a bunch of friends yesterday. I shot my Smith 929. Pretty happy with how everything went. Only one hick-up with my aiming ability yesterday on the classifier where I nicked a no shoot going too fast.
Afterwards I put about 20 rounds through my 416 Rigby. I had to get it sighted in after a scope change, Leupold 1-5 to a S&B 1-4 Short Dot. After getting it dialed, in I smacked a 12 inch plate at 300 yards a few times. I was/am amazed how accurate that thumper is. Pretty happy with the load (350 gn Barnes TTSX) and should be ready for elk season. And if I bump into a stray bull Elephant or Cape Buffalo, I will be ok.
Took my aka-spook built 6 Grendel to the range yesterday morning.
My goal was to test how Varget and Berger 105s would work at 600 yards.
18x36 plate. 5 shots in about 2 inches. For a bolt gun I would be happy. Out of a gas gun, I am beyond happy.

Oh man. This makes me so excite. Now to only learn to shoot at 600 yards...
You guys are really gaming the carbine division with the 6 Grendel :)
Not a bad little cartridge, the 5 shot group ain't bad either.

My MIL has been patiently waiting for me to take her out for some long range shooting. She did great. Lisened really well and picked it up fast. Winds were gusty, up to 15 mph, but she had more hits than misses. She had steel at 279, 555, 624, 774 and 1,000 yards. We worked our way out slowly and sure enough, 1st round impact at 774 and 1K. She loved it.
Wife did great to. Turns out she's left eye dominant. She had 4 for 5 at 1K.
Pic is of MIL.
I bought some new targets! 1/4" round stickers (475 for about $1.50). I was only shooting at 100 yards, but these little guys were fun to shoot.

Shot the bowling pin match at Centennial (friend is a member there). Did well enough, but didn't win.
Shot the combat pistol league at the Front Range Gun Club with my sons. My target is in the middle.

Had a fun night shooting the IDPA match at Centennial Gun Club. 3 stages, most on the simpler side, I think mainly to minimize the setup/tear-down time, but they were fun. Will definitely be hitting the next couple, should keep me happy until the weather allows the clear creek IDPA matches to start back up. For anyone else interested, they run the first sunday each month at 6pm, new shooter briefing starts at 5:15 pm.

Shot my AR-10 build in 6.5 Creedmore. I'm pretty excited to take it out further than 200 yards in the near future.
Headed on out to Pawnee Grasslands, was a lil chilly but nothing extreme.
