Just a reminder, those that plan to hunt in an area that is a draw area, application deadline is April 1st.
That's only a couple of weeks away.
Got my family's draw apps in this morning.
Don't forget your Habitat Stamp or your app will not be considered. They no longer allow you to purchase after the draw.
Yes! Get yours in! I was posting on this board 2 years ago and remembered that the deadline was April 1st - t was 2:00 am or so after the deadline. [facepalm]I won't make that mistake again.
The positive is that it forced me to get an OTC bow tag and learn how shoot a bow properly. Still prefer the old muzzle loader though.
So pumped this year because my son will be able to put in. He's really excited. Good luck on your guys draw.
This is the 3rd year my son has put in for tags.(deer, elk, antelope) He hasn't drawn one tag yet! Hopefully this is the year he can hunt.Quote:

Nice pictures!!! Still trying to decide what all I'm putting in for. Have an about to be 1 year old on the 23rd of this month with hardly any family and no grandmas in the state definitely makes things tough!!
I would so love to spot a Pronghorn like that during hunting season.

Last year was my first year putting in. Didn't draw last year, hope to this year.
Irving, where did you put in? 5 years min for Pawnee in my experience.
Hummer, that country is so much nicer than Pawnee! I dread crawling during an antelope hunt up there!

That's in the Laramie River Valley just south of the Wyoming border, nice country. Only hunted there once. Pronghorn habitat on public land is limited, much of it requires hike in and pack out on foot or horseback.
I put in down near Canon City, Guffey area. Unit 51 maybe? I'll have to check when I put in again this year.

Submitted my apps today. Preference pts for everything except elk. Cow license & WY antelope are my only needs this year. The others will be leftovers.
Got my deer and prong horn in Tuesday, also a pref point for elk. I goto 3 weeks of vacation next year and will stop relying on Colorado to allow me to hunt. Since they hate co residents after all. Kansas will be happy to allow me to hunt there.
I will have 10 points for deer this year and still no idea where to use them. Points for sheep, goat, moose, bear, pronghorn and elk as well. Headed to Alaska for my second moose and first dall sheep, so this year is all about points. Good luck to every one in the draw.

Me, too. I delayed, trying to figure how best to build preference points while also getting the licenses I want. Should have played the PP game smarter years ago. I'm in for buck pronghorn, cow elk, bull moose and buck deer. Taking a long shot at bighorn sheep, too. Will pick up 2nd season OTC bull elk and bear tags later.Quote:

That at is an great picture! Moose are awesome, I hope they continue to thrive and expand here to the point we will be able to get more than 1 bull in a lifetime.
Daaaamn, that is WAY too close for me! I'm looking at the feet to feet distance in that photo. I've been scary close to bull elk before in Estes Park, but I won't be tempting no moose, they're too pissy. Death wish much?Quote:

It's a low density moose unit but I have friends who will be scouting for me....

I'm having some leftover pronghorn steak right now. A freezer full of venison is a powerful motivator.

I'm excited. Put in for deer and elk tags, and a bear point. I want to hunt bear next year. (We'll see.)
First time hunting big game. I'm proud to be a part of the wildlife management process for the first time in my life.
Submitted for deer. First hunt for me and my new build. Buddy of mine who is taking me used to guide. Hopefully will bring a doe home.........very excited!
First year putting in for me. Trying for a deer tag and went for just points on elk and pronghorn. Guess I should have started building points for those elusive tags this year too.
