Tragic. Just tragic.

I was just about to post this..
Really tragic.
ETA: Another video http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=376_1409096283
Wow, very sad.
Massive, unmitigated failure on that "instructor"'s part.
Sad
remember a similar thing to this happened a couple years ago in the NorthEast.

Boy, 8, dies after accidentally shooting himself with UZI at Westfield Sportsman's Club machine gun shoot
BOHICA
Unfortunate case of borderline darwinism. "Instructor" couldn't have guessed what would happen when giving an automatic uzi to a 9 year old? [facepalm] Now everyone else has to deal with the consequences.
BTW, HBAR, your post count is broken. ;)

This is why everyone's first experience (grownup or child) with full auto should be three, maybe four rounds max in the mag.
O2
Meh, my first experience with full auto was a full mag. The difference was that I had decent (not extensive) experience with handling rifles beforehand and had shot the weapon (M-16A1) in semi-auto first. Some of the other cadets hadn't had any experience but again, were able to shoot it in semi-auto first to get accustomed to it before going full tilt and we were all college age, not 9.
I feel bad primarily for the girl as she is probably traumatized now and secondarily for the instructor but I think she should have got more familiarization with how the weapon handled and dealing with the recoil in semi-auto before going full.
I got my daughter to start shooting a .22LR bolt action when she was 9 years old. One finger squeeze and then a bolt she was too weak to move herself. No rapid fire, and a high likelyhood of survival if she managed to swing a long bull barrel rifle around toward someone. I find that instructor to be irresponsible. I can't imagine what that girl will be going through for the rest of her life after that.
Tragic.
Watching this video reminds me of every flight instructor who gets into an aircraft with a student. While you want to encourage learning, there are consequences for advancing students too quickly.
My prayers go out to the family of the instructor, the girl and everyone who was there when this happened.
just nucking futs to put such a young person with absolutely zero gun experience in that position with that weapon. Just makes no sense to me why you'd go straight to full auto with anyone with zero experience with guns, let alone such a small young person.
Horrible. Prayers to his family....
That poor kid will never get that tragic accident out of her head.
I'm sorry the Instructor was killed but poor decision making on his part led to the conclusion.
My heart goes out to the families but I'm also a little pissed at the poor decision making here.
Yet Another black eye for gun owners. The anti's and news media are running ramped with this one. I expect Obumer to make a statement any minute now about how evil guns are. [Mad]
I was going to say, "what was he thinking?" But clearly, he wasn't.
I don't care if she was 40. I wouldn't be breaking the 90 with ANY new shooter with an automatic weapon, period. Hell, I don't want to be breaking the 90 with anyone, regardless of competency.
Hopefully we can use this as a teaching moment to all those who think "assault weapons" are full auto. Second thought, never mind.
Hell, I've heard of cops shooting the ceiling at the range on their first go on full auto.
According to http://bearingarms.com/shooting-rang...-old-mini-uzi/ he may not even have been a real instructor.
I'm of mixed opinion on just how upset I am that this range employee was killed as a result of his obvious negligence.
I am very upset that a young girl is traumatized as a result of this f'up.
It's heartbreaking. From every perspective, regardless of the chain of events, it leaves a hole in the soul.

This makes me very, VERY sad. I really feel for that little girl.
Prayers to their families, God speed.
I would make my usual comment about the need for vetting instructors and making sure they are competent and experienced in whatever they are teaching or demonstrating but I think it falls on deaf ears anyways. Wallets control people's thoughts these days and safety gets thrown right out the window for a few bucks saved. Hopefully that little girl gets through this event OK.
Terribly sad. I wont spend my time monday-morning quarterbacking. Sad all around.
Someone screwed up, I've never shot an UZI full auto, I can't imagine letting a 9 yr old do it. Too sad for the instructor, his family and the little girl.
VERY sad.
And regrettably, Vacca paid for his mistake with his life. The girl and everyone present will live with that memory for the rest of their lives.
Some 9 year olds can drive vehicles and they are quite capable. No one learns to drive in a Formula One race car. It takes practice and having a patient, competent instructor can help when learning difficult and potentially dangerous skills.
Be safe.
FFS now there is a video of this out there.
That poor girl is going to have nightmares for life and now there is video of it on the web forever to haunt her further. What is wrong we parents? Ok you recorded it but for the love of god don't let that tape get out.
Putting a mini/micro Uzi into the hands of a 9 YO is extremely poor judgement on all adult parties involved.
Already I saw an article blaming the NRA for the tragedy. These anti gun people are worse than carrion eating vultures.
There's no upside to this tragedy.
I can't think of a thing to say that would add to what has already been said.
Interesting/pretty good interview with another 9 y/o shooter:

My first thought was "jesus folks.. this is why we can't have nice things.... "
very sad....
