You're a trend setter!
I am sorry for your loss
Reading the comments on Facebook is funny. Idahoians are very anti migration.
Your fault!!!
Man, maybe I'll move there
To discourage immigration, they could take a cue from Iceland..
Rename the state from Idaho to Udaho.
Well, you're in luck. It looks like I've been out-voted and we won't be coming to Idaho. I am disappointed to say the least, but concessions have to be made to make everyone as happy as posssible. The rough guideline now is within 10 hours of Ft. Collins where my bro and his family are. I'm now researching Wyoming and maybe New Mexico or Arizona, but that might be pushing the limit.
Anyway, rejoice that a former NYer won't be invading your territory. [Beer]
I wonder if its an influx of people from California? Probably be opening an IKEA in your neck of the woods soon.
BG - If only you weren't so popular.........maybe you need to be....curmudgeonlyer.

And I don't understand why anyone would want to live around all those evil, mostly Conservative, people.
Same is happening with DougCo but I think we have been targeted for Californication...

My wife watches a lot of homesteading channels. She said she was shocked at how liberal the folks in ID are on those channels.
We've contacted a few realtors in ID and, yeah, while they like the business they don't like a lot of the people coming in from CA. One guy told my dad straight up that he's not working with anyone that wants to go there and change the place into California. This was after he knew my dad wasn't a socialist scumbag.
Am I a bad person if I say let the Californians move up there instead of here to CO? >.>
This is like when every brand new sport/business brags about it being "the fastest growing sport/business!" Sure it's fast growing, that's because it's so small their are only three teams/employees.
exactly... from the article:
So I'm not a trendsetter, I'm part of the crowd? dammit!Quote:
Of course, percentage growth differs from numeric growth — that top title went to Texas, which brought in an additional 400,000 residents between July 2016 and July 2017, bringing the Southern state’s total population to 28.3 million people.
Idaho was the only state to top 2 percent growth, according to the data. Trailing Idaho in percentage population growth were Nevada (2 percent growth); Utah (1.9 percent); Washington (1.7 percent); Arizona (1.6 percent); and Texas, Washington, D.C., Colorado and Oregon (1.4 percent each).

My wife's really good friend was stationed at Ft. Riley, liked KS so much she decided to stay. She's been trying to convince us to move there ever since- said it was very conservative where she lives, way more laid back, and seemed like how CO used to be. She even tried to coax us by saying her BF who works for the SO there could try and get me a job. I just don't know if I could uproot and go somewhere flatter than Denver....
I suspect people are leaving KS for economic opportunity and not other quality of life issues. If I could do the work I do here, I would seriously consider it.
I recall during the housing crisis there were counties in KS almost giving away properties (with tax breaks).
If someone created a business model that would rejuvenate old towns it could be a really good thing for the country.
FT Riley area sucks ass. I love Lawrence and grew partially in Southeastern Kansas. It's humid as crap, but it's green and lots of places to shoot. Cost of living is much lower. I imagine I will retire in that area but I make too much money and my retirement is too good to be moving out there now. Farming, teaching, and medical I would say were the biggest employers when I was there. Actually we lived in the same county as a Nuclear Power Plant and tons of people worked there as well.
I like Nebraska from the time I've spent working there.
I'll have to ask about the property taxes. Housing around Lincoln seemed like half as expensive as Denver. Even drinks in Lincoln were cheaper. Also, the city hasn't been ruined yet. Surprised the salary isn't there for you, especially with them calling themselves the silicon prairie and all.
That's my reservation. WY would be a great escape location for me (I'd want to live near Jackson's Hole) if it ever came down to it, but the wife doesn't want to live in a cold windy locale like WY. So KS would be the next option- but I'm still not sure I'd want to live that close to tornado alley. Cost of living in E. KS does seem appealing though- and it would have to be a large enough property to build a range, and own horses.
Exactly. Not to mention their commerce is drying up left and right. A recent trip back to Scottsbluff revealed that even more businesses had closed up shop and there weren't that many to begin with. Scottsbluff is one of if not the most important business district of the panhandle of Nebraska so if they're struggling that's a poor sign, especially in an otherwise decent economy. Pretty sad.
