Hmm I don?t see that one on my calendar. My calendar even has stuff like Frog Jumping Day, Jelly Bean Day, and Pi Day.
I always thought 9/11 would be a national holiday.
But as an LEO and veteran...not speaking for everyone....I really hate when people come up to thank me for my service. I always feel weird right when I take a bite out of a cheeseburger at lunch and some line has formed to thank me. I'm trying to be polite back spitting chunks of burger on them while answering my radio for an injury car accident.
But really. Their hearts are in the right place. I just don't like that much attention. Not sure if the others feel that way.
And yes the ".... Day" every day of the year is way overdone. We used to just call those days weekdays.
Thank you guys for what you do!!
It doesn't have to be a "day" My respect for law enforcement is year round !!!!
I'll do my best to obey the law today I guess.
Looks like National Missing Children?s day falls on a Saturday this year so we won?t have to skip work to celebrate.

That's so it's easier to organize search parties for cold cases.
Funny enough, in our house we call September 11th, my oldest son’s birthday. I’ve missed a few of his birthdays over his 28 years participating in the respiration exercise. One in particular was in 2001.
There are work days, non-work days, and holidays. Very few days are memorable, like the actual days my kids were born. Most days are not as memorable. Today is a work day.
Be safe.
I did my part on the way into work this morning, appreciating the State Trooper that didn't pull me over when I caught him on I-70. I may or may not have been exceeding the posted speed limit...[oops][PoPo][shit-happens]
I'm going skinny dipping with some naked women to celebrate.
Ditto that. I knew what I was doing when I signed up. I got my paycheck and other benefits that I earned. Makes me feel funny, too, when people say that. Not that I don't appreciate it, it just wasn't anything special compared to most others...especially in the last 17 years or so.
Besides...I get "special recognition" every time I can't move because of my back.
Since this area is heavily populated with former / retired .mil and the VA is down the road. I get a lot, like every day lot, of Thank you For not only your Service, but Sacrifice.
Oh no this isn't service related, oh well thank you anyway.
I feel like it's Stolen Valor, when what happened has absolutely no relation to .mil service and continually stress that to people. Like they tune it out.
Service-related thanks aren't necessarily about you. A lot of times the one being thanked is acting as a proxy for all the others they cannot thank.
