Looks like there will be a resolution discussed at the Tuesday March 12 county comissioners meeting that the commissioners will fund the enforcement of state laws that support the US Constitution including the rights to due process, bear arms and self defense. Following in the footsteps of Weld County? If I was a resident I'd go, alas I live in the continually declining county of Arapahoe.
Hope they pass it. DC is slipping away to the progressives . . . but would be nice to give them the finger wherever possible and fight them every step.
Sheriff Tony Spurlock is one of the pushers of this bill too. Cause feels. What a traitor to the Constitution.

As much as the 1968 GCA sucks, the involuntary confinement standard makes a lot of sense. If someone is so dangerous that his rights must be taken from him, then he really doesn't belong in a free society.
The resolution, at least the copy I saw, also states that basically we already have the appropriate laws on the books to prevent problems and supports the 2nd Amendment.

What I've never undestood is . . . what does Spurlock think would have been different if his officers had shown up to confiscate that whackjob's guns under a red flag order vs what happened when they went to just put a mental health hold on him? Think he wouldn't have reacted the same way?

This implies they had permission to enter the apartment from the roommate.
However, when multiple people co-occupy a residence and they are both in the residence, if one person does not give consent there is no consent. All parties must give consent. A single party cannot give consent over the other parties.

There were many mistakes made and Spurlock is trying to cover up the culpability that his department has in the situation.

The police likely didn't need the roomate's permission to enter the apartment. If there is an emergent situation, the police can enter a dwelling without permission or a warrant. Everything listed above adds up to an emergent situation.Quote:

For those interested in pursuing the recall there is a private facebook (I know, facebook) group called "Recall Colorado Governor Jared Polis" where it is sort of being planned. Unfortunately with 25+ thousand members it's turning into a bit of a general discussion. The real work and coordination is in the associated county groups named "RECALL POLIS - <county name here> COUNTY".
For a 2A Colorado rights group Rally for our Rights has a private group that has a lot of good information on the bills going through.
Along with the Polis recall effort there are efforts afoot to recall Jeff Bridges, Meg Froelich and Rochelle Galindo as well as as the petition to get the NPV on the ballot for the people of Colorado to make the decision. It will be much easier to hobble the Colo Senate to block the bad bills than it will be to gather 600+ thousand valid signatures in two months to boot Polis.
