By moving you delayed the problem a bit, but it will get there sooner than you think. We were contemplating Idaho for awhile, but started researching the changes going on there and other "conservative" destinations and realized we weren't really escaping anything. The same buttheads that moved to and screwed Colorado are doing the same thing to Idaho, Arizona, and others. Look at Texas, they are soon done too.Quote:

I can tell you from actually living in Idaho for the past 5 years what you're saying is not true about Idaho. Yes, a lot of people are moving there. Yes, some are liberals. However, according to voter registrations, far more new residents are registering as republicans than democrats. This was from a study done by the very liberal Idaho Statesman. Registered republicans outnumber democrats in the state by 4 to 1. Unaffiliated voters, who mostly vote republican, outnumber democrats by 2.5 to 1. In many state and local elections the republican candidate frequently runs unopposed.
The metrics that might cause someone to move to Colorado are very different than those that might cause them to move to Idaho.
I can also tell you that by moving I didn't just "delay" anything. When we moved to Idaho from Colorado we greatly increased our standard, and quality, of living. And we didn't have to endure the liberal bullshit any longer that's so pervasive in Colorado. We also put behind us oppressive costs of living, traffic and other factors that made living in Colorado such a pain in the ass. As a matter of fact, moving to Idaho made such a difference in my standard of living it allowed me to retire at 59 after my divorce. I moved to rural Oklahoma to do it but it was all because I made that decision to leave the liberal infested shithole of Colorado.
So my advice, from someone whose done it, twice, is this: If you think you'd like to leave the liberal haven of Colorado, do it. There are still places where freedom is alive, regardless of what you hear from those who haven't done it. You're not running from anything. You're running toward a better life.
Couldn?t have said it better myself, having lived in Colorado my whole life, and still having all my family there, it was a big decision, but I was DONE with Colorado?s BS, add to that the lower cost of living and career advancement. It?s funny because once locals here find out what I?m about, they question why I moved to ?liberal? It was ever increasing homelessness because of pot, it was ever increasing traffic because everyone and their fucking dog is trying to move to the front range, also because of that I was going in for job interviews with 50+ other candidates. It was ever increasing cost of living and it was ever decreasing quality of life.
Yes, I've had to put up with 3 digit temperatures with high humidity and a lot more bugs (and this winter the snow will also be too moist and thus heavy AF), but we just bought a house that is larger and nicer than our old house in CO for half the money and none of it borrowed ... and enough money left over that I don't have to work for a couple years if I don't want (or can't find work ... this COVID shit has interfered with some things, but I suspect that would have been worse had we stayed in CO).
Biggest downside is that I think my dog hates me now.
