Right, it was awkward because the guy was very apologetic-he’s a professional (doesn’t mean something isn’t off in his history)-kept apologizing, said he didn’t understand why he got denied. Yes I know it happens mistakenly as well as legitimately. We had a great chat leading up to the purchase, it’s a fairly expensive 1911 and he definitely knows his firearms.
I agreed to take the deposit because I got a good feeling from him. It’s the first gun he was buying post divorce so maybe there’s something there that needs to cleared.
I like to believe I’m good at reading people, has served me well in my various careers and never got the feeling something was off.
