Guinness Draught. Get the 8 pack of cans!!
ETA: Almost forgot...happy birthday! [Beer]
Miller High Life!!!!!
Ahh, beer. It's an acquired taste. Some liquor store near my house in Indiana would let you mix and match a six pack, which would be ideal for you. I doubt they permit that here.
I doubt you'll find the first ones you try very appealing, it's a matter of trying many and finding out which types you enjoy. You might want to go to a microbrew pub near you and just try their sampler.
Otherwise, the best we can do is recommend some brews you might enjoy.

The one and only, Newcastle Brown Ale. My personal favorite.
Enjoy!
H.
Happy Birthday.
Hmm. Guinness is a fantastic beer, but it's darker and more of an acquired taste. As a first beer purchase, if you can find it in Nebraska, I recommend Easy Street Wheat. It's light enough to not turn you off, but has enough flavor and body to be enjoyable.
If you can't find Easy Street up there, Samual Adams beers are always a good choice.
How about a 5 pack?

Blue Moon is really good. They have a couple seasonal variants that are really good too. Pumpkin Spice and a Winter one.
pigs eye. thats the good stuff...
440 Magnum six pack has always been my favorite!
Happy Birthday! [Beer]

Happy Birthday! I don't drink so I can't recommend anything.... but be safe and take a trusted friend with you! And again, Happy Birthday!!!
Bear, I rarely drink, a couple beers a month maybe. I told him Pigs Eye, because he would never want to drink again. I tried it once, after a half a beer i allready felt like I had a hangover. It was brutal. In 1997 when I tried it, it was the cheapest one sold at the Golden liquor store. So, I was kidding dont try it, or it will turn you into a tea totealler.
Your profile says "Outside Boulder" ... forget the six pack, go "inside" boulder and hit one of the many fine brew pubs for a quality draught (if you have to live near that place you might as well take advantage of the one thing Boulder is good for).
In fact just go here http://www.boulderbeer.com/ (they're at 2880 Wilderness Place) and see if they do a "sampler" (which most breweries do).
When you find a brew you like, buy a growler of it.
Wanna get drunk for CHEAP? (Disclaimer: no guarantees about having a positive experience!)
Put some Pep in your step a followed by some Evil in your Eye. (90 proof Peppermint Schnapps and a 40 of Evil Eye.)
I agree with Ginsue or Al-x. A nice, smooth wheat beer (Easy Street or Blue Moon) is a good beer for early in your "career". I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I like to squeeze an orange slice into wheat beer (not uncommon, but unless you've done it, it sounds kinda gay). Good luck on your final!
I'm going to have to agree with Hoosier on this one, get some Newcastle, or if you can find it (I've never really looked around here for anyone that carries it)
Rogue Dead Guy Ale.

I am going to have to say try to find the store that will let you mix and match also. Have a great birthday [Beer]
Isn't there a man-law about "fruiting the beer"? [ROFL1]
1) Guinness
2) Killian's Irish Red
3) Yeungling (from America's oldest brewery in Pottsville, PA. Don't know if they have it here, I've only seen it on the east coast)
Or you could just jump in head first and get yourself a nice bottle of Jameson or Jack. Or have an Irish Car Bomb, my personal fav.
Happy Barfday. Have fun and be safe.

Alaskan White... a good wheat beer...

I'll agree with Hoosier - Newcastle is a good beer...
Or Belhaven St. Andrews Ale or Scottish Ale

Or go dark and bold with a Spaten Optimator

Old Chub
happy birthday! you hold a very historic birthday with pearl harbor.
I would go with easy street wheat. I love wheat beer, and something local made that is definitely going to be fresh is my preference for beer!
I would also get yourself a handle of jack and enjoy the night[Pepsi]
thanks for the advice all! [Beer]

Or Shock Top WITH ORANGE! I'll fruit it all night long.
Rolling rock. Or PBR
Oh Yeahh....is this gay?
Jordan, you wanna chime in![Tooth]
Rico bought me my first Zima, said that's what the cool guys drink..... I believed him.
Still got that "5 Pack" left. Since you couldn't handle the good stuff I tried to introduce you to! HAHAHA
Still get funny looks when I try to order a Zima Keg! You can float it and still drive home!
Get caught with one in your lap and the officer just laughs and says "Move along queer".......
They still make Zima? Wow. I tried a sample cup of Guinness once, poured half of it out. Still gives me the willies just thinking about it. Nastiest shit I ever tasted, right up there with Strohs and Iron City.
A lot of the New Belgium beers are very good. 1554 is a good darky. Trippel is something like 7.8% :)
Fat Tire is pretty good, too.
Just make sure you let us know what you decided to go with!
Ultimately Stella Artois...cheers!
1. Any New Belgium, high %, I like Ranger in a can (what I've been drinking)

When my step son turned 21 a few years back, his AK-47 he ordered came in on his birthday. When he went to pick it up he realized he's 21 and can buy a handgun. He walked in the door with an AK, a 357, and a six pack. He had the guiltiest grin I'd ever seen.
