Ouch! Damn valves couldn't keep up.
Yikes! Did you lose a spring, retainer, keepers or did the valve just fail?
That sucks! I have had that happen back in the day, had a big block Ford I ran at Bandimere with nitrous and I dumped a couple.
That SUCKS!! Did the valves drop into the piston's and score the cylinders?? Is that the last pic?? I can't tell from the pics.
That is awesome. Next time we have a 15 liter Cummins throw a rod I will snap some pics when you have a piston and rod the size of a coffee can end up upside down the damage is awesome
That block is toast dsb the pic of the piston shows it really well
Oh snap!
I'm not really a big block Chevy guy, but can't you go at least .060" over on a 454? Maybe even more?
502 is where the fun starts!
I've grenaded alot of engines over the years.
502 Ha, Ha I got one in my Blazer.
632 is where it's starts.
and then you go to this:

That's going to take some work to clean up.
It pays to overbuild your valve train.
That's one thing I miss about my Honda S2000 is the 9000 rpm redline
almost got it all back together today, just need to get a brass Distributor gear tomorrow, and fire it up.

A GE CF-6 HPT failure on an AA 767. Happened to mechanics during a ground run at LAX.
heh, a 4400 horse diesel can come apart in spectacular fashion too.

Yep, that's a piston.
^^^^^ both of those posts are awesome. I do not know anything about jet engines what happened?
and Graves let me guess Q series cummins from a train?
Hey car-15, why no rev limiter? Just asking.
7000 rpm on a push rod is cooking! That was probably one of the best failures I have seen... wow!
This is why I build my own. Every brand has it's quirks and I check and recheck everything from the machine shop. Since I deal in Pontiac's it is even more important.
