nope, left hand area is closed through monday according to the
forest service web page. I drove by this morning to check and there is a barricade up at the
entrance

I assume it is now open due to heavy rain couple days we had.
Last I heard it was closed until further notice.
There was a big ACCESS CLOSED sign and lots of brightly colored tape across the entrance on Tuesday.
Its still closed. I talked to a ranger during the first closure this year and their concern was the stability of the hillside and the burned trees. With the heavy rain it'll just keep it closed longer. There were numerous mud slides up to 2 feet deep on Left Hand drive during the rain storms earlier in the week...Quote:

My main shooting area use to be Northsite. Now, I try to goto Lefthand during weekdays.
This is probably one of the closest place from where I live.
More update near future would be greatly appreciated.

After being transferred this morning to 6 different numbers, someone at road maintenance and someone at transportation have both confirmed Left Hand is back open. I’ll be heading out today to see in person.
... and the verdict is? Road maintenance and Transportation? Yeah, Left Hand Canyon Road is open and has been since a couple days after the fire. The off road area where the shooting area is is managed by the US Forest Service, not the County of Boulder...

I like the convenience factor but lack adequate bravery to shoot at Lefthand [Eek2]
left hand is a waste of time unless you shoot clays or pistols and even then i can tink of places that are just as close to denver that suck way less .
but yes left hand is open i went up yesterday to be sure . the place is a frikin mess !!
About 4 groups of people at around 2pm.
People who were shooting right next were good with cordinating with us.
Lefthand is a free-for-all, folks everywhere not knowing how to handle a firearm. The goal in Lefthand is not to panic when shooting in close confines when firearms are pointed anywhere.
A vest in Lefthand could be a bad idea, some of the shooters just may want to try it out as a target if they saw it.
Besides, the hillside is so close that if there is/was a target it gets shreaded quickly just like the rest of the trash used for targets.
If you arrive and leave before 9:30 am you can normally beat the masses.
