Put a damn price on it

I'm sick of this shit, the last few weeks there's been a rampant increase in people abusing the rules of the trading post that say you must put a price on it.
either using WTT but then saying for cash
or WTT and not listing any options

or saying "pm me for price"

and it's all newbies.

I stop looking, I'm not interested and I'm not playing that game.

Put a fucking price on it or if you really only want to trade, put an approximate value on it or what you consider a fair trade.

Otherwise fuck off and use gunbroker

Beat me to it. This site it turning out to be more of an auction place than actual 4 sale section.
I have send numerous pm / em's inquiring about an actual sale price and have received a lot of :Well what do you have for trade?" responses.
F$%^&k i have a utility trailer, trucks, tools etc, non of them firearm related. Do i need to start including an excel spreadsheet of everything i own to see if something catches their eye?

HOW ABOUT RESPONDING IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME??? If you have an interest as i do on 4 sale items a follow up, or even phone call when i leave a contact number please acknowledge contact. I figure most folks contact between Immediately to 1-2 hours on an item. Or they will contact you asking if the items is available as it is not been SOLD or SPF in the original post

If you decide that is not in your scheduling say so. DON'T say NO then 2-3 days later after you have posted BTT every 15-20 minutes WILL SHIP for $$ extra then not contact someone who asked to see if they are still interested.

When people put it up for trade and then post how much they sold it for. Pisses me off

If it it posted for trade only and I mean REALLY for trade only, I don't see any reason why a price or value should be posted. I have traded many things for less than the real value because someone else had what I wanted. I have also been able to trade up. The deal in a trade is the value precieved by both parties. You may have something I really really want and no way I have the money to spend on it right at the moment.

I do think it's bullshit for them to get around posting a price if it is really for sale.

Horse trading like that is very fun to me.

Should be a pretty easy "fix". Delete their ad as soon as it is seen by a Mod or someone granted authority to do so and then use the "ban hammer" on their ass. Ban the bastard SOB's for life!!![Mad]

Why don't you point out the "Want To Trade Section" for us. You can't because there is not one.

Every time someone post something for sale or trade, it's a chance for someone else here to get a deal on something we want. I don't know why everyone is being so whiney.

There have been a few websites I have been on where you had to post a certain amount in general forums before you could buy/sell anything on them. While I have had good deals with people who have less then say 50 posts, it would give them incentive to be part of the community and not just a place to sell their wares.

its not that trading is bad (believe me i do it all the time) , its the lack of value placed on item witch leads to a long list of problems when dealing with someone new .

Maybe a "Trades" forum could be created.

Then all of that vague stuff could be separated from the items that are really "For Sale".

Yea there has been a bunch of FNG's here lately pulling that crap. I would like to suggest again that we make a minimum post count of 150 post to be able to post to the For sale section.

I feel 150 is a good number because they will have to make an attempt at becoming a part of the community and if all they want to do is sell and they start bumping old sales items or blowing up threads with one or two word comments they can just be banned.

There has been way to much bs associated with that section and I know the mods have got to be tired of constantly policing it.

I also would like to agree with no pictures of the Item is a PIA, I know what a glock looks like but I dont know what your Glock looks like, I could be hot pink with flowers on it for all I know. Also the excuse of "The site says my pics are to large" is BS, There is a F***ing stickey at the top on how to post pics, F***ing READ!!!!

Last When an Item is sold the OP should Delete the thread not put SOLD!!! and expect a cookie or a medal because they sold it. By doing this it would limit the amount of bumps a worthless thread recieves while not taking away from the new threads and it would prevent any FNG bumping year old for sale items to boost their post count.

I am all for a denial/lock on sale postings until "X" amount of posts are reached. It will help weed out the scuz bucket's that join just to hawk their junk.

I second the minimum post count thing and I really like the idea of a trade only section. That would be cool.

The guys I've met on this forum have been great. Cologunmarket and armslist, not so much. I think of this place more as a community than a place to buy and sell guns.

One thing that pisses me off about those other places is when you send an email and get no response for days, then you hear "I have a lot of interest in this piece and several people have offered me my asking price, but I might sell to you if you pay $50 - $100 more than the price listed." Another thing I've had happen was a seller call me reepeatedly throughout the day like a high pressure telemarketer trying to get me to buy his worn out pistol with broken grips -- I offered a reasonable price which he angrily refused, saying he had another buyer lined up for later that day -- but three days later it was reposted at the price I'd offered. Off topic rant done.

I understand the desire to keep this community filled with upstanding individuals and the post count may help that.

However I can say that I read this forum everyday but I do not post much. I have been with this forum for at least a year now and my post count is still around 20.

There have been times where I have considered trading one of my pistols and not selling it but if your only looking to only trade it then yes I think you should have to at least list what your looking to trade for.

As always, I enjoy all of the wonderful members here and its a pleasure to be a member.

I just send them or offer a ridiculous price. Then when they getoffened I tell them to read the rules and they wont get stupid responses.

Obound has a point, but as we can see, there's a 'joined date' at the top right corner of the member profile in a post. It possible, criteria could be set for 150 posts OR minimum one year member. Just a thought.

BTW, read one the other day that I just loved. A $2k gun and snootly stated he wouldn't post pics... Are you Fn serious? I can see 'email for pics' on the regular stuff, but if you want someone to drop mad cash like that, pony up the pic in the thread of expect nobody to send a pm. Post count shouldn't determine character or quality. Any jackass can post 150 posts in a short manner of time and still suck. Just my 2 cents. Ive been here a short time and made some good trades and sales with 3 people here so far.

Your correct post count shouldnt and doesnt determine character. What the posts will do is assure that someone comes here to be a part of this community and not just pop in and sell a gun and then move on.

What everyone here needs to remember this is a discussion forum with the ADDED benefit of a trading post, NOT the other way around. If your only objective is to sell firearms and never participate in the forum thats a shame and there are other sites out there that will allow you to just sell a gun. I personally like the idea that we are more than just a selling site and its FREE and we have a feed back forum to hold folks responsible.
