This is illegal and will most likely be thrown out in the court but shouldn't have been passed to begin with:

So I guess "All Debts Public and Private" is right out then?
There needs to be some sort of sanction for legislators that write laws that are later overturned as unconstitutional. Maybe not jail time, but if they do it too often they're automatically booted from office.
that is just plain stupid.
wonder what's next? you can only use a credit card, cash is gone all together to "go green", all payments are electronic and your "credit card" is your retina.
Yahhhhhhhhhh...nanny state (add lots of sarcasm here)!
"Now accepting ammo as payment"
hopefully that is a law that, until thrown out, is dutifully ignored by the public.
This needs to be an constitutional amendment- along with forbidding all 3 branches of the gov't from exempting themselves from laws, decisions, indictment, etc... make the punishment severe and swift- immediate impeachment/expulsion/revocation of pension, the whole 9 yards...
No more Congress passing things like Obamacare, and exempting themselves- eat your own dog food!
The government is broke, this is just one in a long line of laws to force the public into doing business with institutions which give them access to your money. Once again brought to you under the guise of safety, after all only people whose money is illegal or being hidden from the tax man would use cash........
Still trying to figure out how nobody saw this coming. Why do so many laws that are intended to paint a 1/8" line wind up with a 4' swipe?
While any person with 1/2 a clue could see the "collateral damage" that was going to result from this.
This takes nothing away from the simple fact that it is a stupid law and I am sure will be found DOA shortly. The comment that Pawn shops have to keep records has nothing to do with it. Loan for property=contract=record.
So what is next. A law requiring gun boards to provide an "Opt out" of specific sections and accommodations for (state your cause) challenged members? [Coffee]
Sounds like a violation of the 1970's coin act. Merchants can take whatever payment they seem fit.
My first thought this was in some foreign country. Kinda scary how close we
as a society are getting to the reality that was in the movie Minority Report. [Bang]
New law. Politicians can not write, or pass laws, only block them.
On another note: GREAT! I already couldn't afford virgin prostitutes as it was when I was down there!
Sounds like someone was paying attention. Kinda like the CO casinos being exempt from the new smoking regs.Quote:
Pawn shops have been forced to keep records of their clients for years. However under this bill they are still allowed to deal in cash.
The arrogance of some of our politicians is ridiculous. Dictating what people can use for payment?! Really?!!
What percentage of transactions do the think is illegal? What can they prove?
