I hear if you suck really hard on the barrel you can dislodge a stuck bullet...
Just sayin..
Dumb shits.
You can tell he's an expert, because he's on the official anti gun enforcement team!
What is to stop someone from just setting up and doing a gun buyback program of their own? No promises of destruction of the weapons. Just offer to get them off the streets.
Ah yes, the streets in Chitown are much safer now.
Thank God I don't have a 22, they are too dangerous and a "killer".
I would be very curious to know what "machine guns" were turned in as well.
How many of these clowns are going to get mugged on the way out of WalMart where they just spent their 100.00 windfall?
Plus how many want to bet the real number of firearms turned in was half of what is claimed.

“That’s a killer right there. That small gun,” said Chicago Police Sgt. Kevin Johnson, a member of the citywide Anti-Gun Enforcement Team. “It’s a North American Arms .22 caliber,” Johnson said. “That bullet is so small it will bounce. It will travel and you’ll have internal bleeding going throughout your body.”
I wish I had the opportunity to tell Sgt Johnson he was a dumbass.
Well, I lived in the Chicago metro area for well over 25 years and I truly believe that a good number of the better "turn in" guns will soon be in the homes of some of the cop's relatives. That's just how it normally works in Chicago.
Paperwork and place to hold the event at. As long as you were not selling them during the "buy back" deal it's not considered a gun show. YET someone with an agenda would scream & cry trying to find a way to stop it.
I believe the LE's are not doing it legal like. Yes they say it's a BB program no questions asked. However acquire 1-200 guns and you know someone want's to know where they came from.
that was a very painful read. my brain hurts.
Sadly, this anti-gun mentality is somewhat prevalent amongst many in the Law Enforcement Community.
Soldiers in my unit have regurgitated that same BS about .22's bouncing around inside of you... they also say that it will penetrate sapi plates.... Can we incorporate a "Ballistics 101" class into basic training too, please?
I have also heard soldiers say that an M4 cannot engage somebody past 300m, and that there is no such thing as trigger reset, and that a .50 BMG round passing near your body will kill you, and that it always takes several COM hits with a 5.56 to stop somebody but even a peripheral hit with 7.62 NATO will stop them dead in their tracks...
Oh and in case you didn't know, all 7.62 rounds are the same, apparently. 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 7.62x54r, 30-06 etc... all the same...
UGGGHHH!!!!!!
SOMEBODY PLEEEAAASSSEEE shoot me!! (But not with a 5.56, because that won't work. Nope, I want the uber deadly .22lr.)
Believe in natural consequences, Darwin's ideas may be debated by scientist and Christian alike, but he had a good saying....... [Coffee]
I'd bet those weapons are going right back out the back door eventually. Therefore not being taken "off the streets".
I hate (and I don't use that word often) Chicago. Moved away - glad I did, filthy city...
I need to buy a holster for my p22 now. It is apparently more effective than anything else I own.. All these years debating 9mm v. .45acp.. and we were all just wrong.
[Bang]this thread is unhealthy for me
I wonder how many homes were burglarized to stock up for the gun buy back. Aka police sanctioned fencing operation.

Jun 14 2012: How to Make a Profit in Manufacturing in New York City
New York City’s rule by moonbats has not quite driven all industry out of the city. From the Wikipedia entry for artist Tom Sachs:
His first major solo show, “Cultural Prosthetics,” opened at New York’s Morris-Healy Gallery in 1995. Many works from the show conflated fashion and violence, as with HG (Hermés Hand Grenade) (1995) and Tiffany Glock (Model 19) (1995), both of which were models made with Hermes or Tiffany packaging. Although these sculptures were non-functional, another piece — Hecho in Switzerland (1995) — was an actual working homemade gun. Sachs and his assistants would make similar guns and sell them back to the city as part of New York’s gun buyback program (for up to $300 each).
$300 for making something like this?

Not a bad profit margin.
On a tip from Artfldgr. Hat tips: Boing Boing, Coco’s Variety Store.
This article makes me want to vomit. Everybody involved is the epitomy of ignorant. Military-grade machine guns, killer .22s, trying to hammer out bullets...
If you don't know how to use the gun, how do you know the safety doesn't work?!?!
[Bang]
i have some broken BB guns they can buy back...then I can get some REAL ammo!
this is seriously like the beginning stages of gun confiscation. First it starts off voluntary. then the program loses steam so measures are taken to get more guns off the streets to make the program see viable and useful.
You can almost be certain that some of the nicer guns will not be destroyed. and I wouldn't be against it. That means those people still value the gun and it's worth and history....and hopefully that gun will make it's way into the hands of a collector or someone who will cherish it and use it properly.
Those guns are probably taken off the street for a couple/few days and maybe some will then be used as "drop guns".
We lived in Naperville for over 25 years and for that length of time, commuted into the Chicago Loop on a daily basis and I had seen way more than my share of the BS that goes on in the entire area. Cannot believe anyone would stay in that area by CHOICE.
All I have to say is WOW. Kids these days will believe anything. And for the 50 BMG theory, that is why Keano Reaves should be shot for filming the matrix. LOL
I shoulda saved all the money I've spent over the years on assault rifles and just bought a couple extra 22LR's
Are you friggin kidding me? The guy that stood in line for an hour and a half to get $300 for three guns, must be from California. He's definately not a true Texan. A real Texan would stand in line for that much time, to buy three guns for $300!! Just Sayin......[Coffee]
When I lived in Shreveport they had a gun buy back program in the late 90's. One of the dealers made a killing clearing out his stock of Jennings, Lorcerns and SKS rifles ($100 handgun, $250 'assault rifle')... Not a bad haul for $40 pistols and $125 rifles at the time...
Stupid friggin' sheep. I bet Obama's really proud of them too.
i dont understand why ANYONE would do this instead of just selling the gun if you really dont want it i dont think ive seen any gun selling for under 100 bucks
Because they think they have to, or are made to think that they are owning the gun illegally.
Chicago runs these ambiguously, so people who aren't aware think they are mandatory. I'm sure there are also people turning in guns they don't own (owned by family members) or inherited.
someone should stand to the side of the line and offer 150$ for any of the nicer stuff :D
I love that idea. I wonder what charge would be when they arrest you ...
When I move back east, I would like to put up a web site or do some local advertising that if anyone would like to rid themselves of any guns they no longer wish to have in their home, they could turn them over to me. I would reserve the right to compensate anyone who turns in their unwanted guns and would evaluate each orphaned firearm personally.
I should probably just call it a Pawn Shop huh? [Coffee]
They also allegedly took in an M60 'off the streets' with the same $100 gift card program. An M60. For a $100 gift card. Sure ya did!
