If someone stole my manger scene from my Christmas display I wouldnt consider it a hate crime, I would consider it some dumb fucking people that were low lives took it. There is a matter of principle that someone went on your property and took something that was yours, which like everyone here has agreed its wrong. Doesn't an item have to exceed a certain dollar amount before its considered a theft worthy of prosecution or suit?(honestly not sure on this one, just want if heard dunno...)
