Only a matter of time...Nice to see PD finally taking steps to better train officers with these targets. The first time they see a threat like that and have to fix their OODA loop, it shouldn't be in a real house. Now for them to start using role players like that in FoF scenarios and other training events.

If you see two of those targets, you are probably already shot.

Personally, I prefer targets of toddlers and infants. But pregnant chicks will do for now.

There nothing better than a day at the range, shooting targets of 6 year old boys. Man... makes me wish we had some targets of some mentally retarded kids to shoot. That would be even more fun.

Shooters in Active Shooter events are not limited to just adults that are not pregnant or old. Do you think Jeffco S.O. had to rethink their practices and training methods after Columbine and having kids as targets? Of course they did. I pray that an officer never has to see a target like these however when an officer does have to get a sight picture on a threat like this, he doen't have to think about it and solves the problem. It may be my kids, or yours that depends on it. No one had any issues with pictures of Sadam, UBL, or even putting up pictures of POTUS as "threats" even though they would never go to the middle east. Now people here of all places, are bitching about the realities of possible current threats here? Hypocrites. Go back to playing with your unicorns and dining with Hickenlooper.

Remember Hurricane Katrina & the chaos in N.O. afterwards? I remember being required to have people pulling security on locals while I pulled bodies out of the water. Desperate people will do desperate things, regardless of age, physical condition, or pregnant. People bitched about Blackwater being on the ground there to keep personnel & food safe; all paid for by FEMA. I fielded those VERY targets this weekend for a CQB class to help teach discrimination skills using drill I learned at CSAT back in 2009. I paint the hands grey then replace them with full color props such as cell phones, beer bottles, tools, guns, flashlights, knives, etc. The target may also have badges on neck chains or clipped to the belt.

This teaches the student to look at the whole person, then hands, waistline and immediate area/demeanor before firing.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PREGNANT CHICK IS HISPANIC. There are also black and other ethnic targets as well.

I remember encountering a pregnant woman target while I was in the academy. My wife was pregnant at the time which is kinda weird. She was pointed a revolver at me so I shot her, oddly enough I remember thinking "just don't shoot the belly" and both my rounds struck her in the chest slightly higher than center of mass. It didn't cause me to hesitate, everything flowed correctly, saw a person, looked at the hands and saw the threat as I was "sighting in" for lack of a better term I made a semi-conscience decision to avoid the belly.

The purpose of the target is to get your out of the mindset that all bad guys will look like two pac or a hell's angel. They even used the same targets with different objects in the hands so you couldn't make your decision based on the person, you had to chose based on what they were doing.

If you always use the same evil looking guy for a target you might have trouble shooting someone who looks "normal"

Think about what you guys are REALLY saying when you call these targets out of line. It's along the lines of "it doesn't matter what the person is doing, it's all about what they look like, or if they have a medical condition". So cops shouldn't train to shoot kids? Who tends to do the school shootings, herm...lemme think...students the same age of the other KIDS you're trying to save.

Investigated it myself, he manipulated the numbers on a RFQ for 240,000 rounds into 21.6 MILLION... So the 1.8B number he's throwing around now is more like 20M... But that's not scary enough to get his listeners to panic.
That story has been run elsewhere, too... But I usually am able to trace it back to something related to Mr. Jones.

I have lots of different targets for practice. Anything ranging from bad dudes hiding behind a couch, someone with a hostage up to a police officer. Like others said, I want to practice target control. Not just "see something move and shoot at it". Scan, recognize, neutralize.

The targets are called "no more hesitation targets" the are specifically designed to train cops to not hesitate to pull the trigger on any one any age. It should scare the shit out of us that cops are being conditioned to kill anybody without hesitation. The Army doesn't even use shit like that.
