I'm incredibly proud to announce that at 4:23 this morning, I joined the ranks of fatherhood as my son Michael took his first breaths of Colorado air! 6lbs 0oz, 19.5" long.

With the midwife talking me through it, I did most of the delivery myself! [Weight] Umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck (didn't cause any major concerns) and the nurses took care of that, but I basically caught his head and then "pulled" him the rest of the way out.
Public and free labor and deliver advice: If you're going to let her squeeze your hand during contractions, give her your index finger and middle finger to squeeze. If you give her more than 2 fingers, she can break a finger. If you only give her 1 finger, you'll end up with a dislocated finger. [Shock] Also, take off any rings first or your fingers will be scarred permanently.. lol Also, ask early and often for the epidural - It made all the difference. Jenna was blacking out from the pain (she wanted to do a totally natural birth with no pain killers) and the epidural made it manageable.
Nah, no need for drinking! Seriously though: bring a camera and take some pictures, but don't let it get in the way of the once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your family and friends can wait a few hours to see pictures, so spend all the time you want with mom and baby first.
Already done. ;)
Congrats, well done. Now prepare yourself for lotsa shit. Literally.[shithitsfan] [panic]. Don't worry, couple months you will be used to it. [Beer]
I got a bunch of lowers in yesterday and I was letting my 1 year old twins handle them, and it was a magical moment. Seriously, when they touched them it made me teary eyed.
Just thinking that 50 years from now they're still going to have those, and remember their dear old dad who had the foresight to build them a small arsenal.
Congrats and thanks for the pic.
