With the midwife talking me through it, I did most of the delivery myself! Umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck (didn't cause any major concerns) and the nurses took care of that, but I basically caught his head and then "pulled" him the rest of the way out.

Public and free labor and deliver advice: If you're going to let her squeeze your hand during contractions, give her your index finger and middle finger to squeeze. If you give her more than 2 fingers, she can break a finger. If you only give her 1 finger, you'll end up with a dislocated finger. Also, take off any rings first or your fingers will be scarred permanently.. lol Also, ask early and often for the epidural - It made all the difference. Jenna was blacking out from the pain (she wanted to do a totally natural birth with no pain killers) and the epidural made it manageable.

Nah, no need for drinking! Seriously though: bring a camera and take some pictures, but don't let it get in the way of the once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your family and friends can wait a few hours to see pictures, so spend all the time you want with mom and baby first.
