elevation knob

on a detachable carry handle with the evaluation knob is numbered 0 then 5 clicks to 5 five more till 10 and on. the last one i had was 8/3 setting and i didn't really mess with it. so my question is if i like to do the 25 yard zero in what is each click represent? I'm not familiar with the standard elevation settings on Ar's. any help would be great

There are two versions of the knob - 8/3 for 20" M16A2 types, and 6/Z for 14.5" M4 carbine types. There is no version specifically made for 16" or the 11.5" or shorter barrel models.

A 0 to 10 sounds like an aftermarket knob - if it's got really fine threading, it might be considered a 'national match' 1/4 MOA adjustable sight.

What each click represents depends on the threads of the post (standard or national match) and the numerical markings are presets for the M855 military round out of a 20" M16A2 1/7 barrel or a 14.5" M4 1/7 barrel.

I believe the standard setting is 1/2MOA adjust for standard pitch and 1/4MOA for national match pitch, regardless of the wheel markings.

the wheel goes up to 20 then back to 0 and all over. but i i looked at the threads and they look like standard threads, not fine thread. so 5 clicks would be 2 1/2 moa at 100 yards if I'm not mistaking?

or should i say that at 100 yards i would raise it 2 1/2" from the first hit if i raised it 5 clicks?

I'm trying to relate it to a rear elevation site on a sks/ak47. is that a correct way of thinking of it or two different ways of thinking?

That's what it's supposed to represent, yes - but only if you're using milspec ammo from a milspec barrel. Different rounds or a different barrel will vary what it actually translates to on paper.

for what it's worth, the same goes for AK/SKS sights, they're only truly calibrated for milspec rounds, from the milspec barrel, and approximate for any variation.

What distance are you zeroing?
It sounds like you are trying to zero your rifle using the rear sight-
You should only be adjusting the FRONT SIGHT for elevation, not the rear.

I'm shooting around 75 yards and i am using the front sight for adjustment. i was just wanting to know how to use it. I'm assuming beyond 100 yards or ? I'm use to the sks style of the rear adjustment and was trying to relate it to the AR style
