    Couple of thoughts.

1st off this is a story from World Net Daily, so it really should be taken with a pound or two of salt. Hyperbole, fear mongering and journalistic standards that are as low as the MSM are the hallmark of WND stories.

EVERY session some leftard puts up something similar, they have every session since the mid 60s. If you read every wacko bill that had ever been drafted you'd need to go on some pretty serious high bloodpressure medicine.

This bill has NO COSPONSORS, nothing makes it very far without cosponsors.

This bill is only in committee (and with no cosponsors that gives it a 99.9% chance of dying in committee ... hell HR1022 had a dozen cosponsors and it died in committee).

Yes, we should be vigilant, and yes this congress is probably the most leftist of any congress since Clinton's days, but lets not get all worked up, there is zero chance of this thing becoming law as its written.

The guy (sponsor) should be swinging from the gallows pole just for suggesting the idea!
(re: for those clueless out there, his suggestion is a violation of the 2nd)
And while we're at it, the whole lot of 'em for the same reasons.

And if a minor obtains a weapon and injures someone with it, the owner of the gun – if deemed to have failed to meet certain safety requirements – faces a multiple-year jail sentence.
While they point out the "jail time" they don't point out that now you would have a felony conviction - even for failing to report a change of address within 60 days - and would no longer be eligible to own/possess a firearm. Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but when I move I'm still reeling from all of the things I need to do past 60 days and could conceivably see myself honestly forgetting to make the notification (which I believe they are counting on!).

Yeah, he's not just a "former" member, he's the founder of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther's!

    It’s definitely legit: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.45:

It only takes 1 person to get the ball rolling. With a STRONG anti-gun Lib controlled Congress and another in the White House, getting this passed is not as far fetched as it would have sounded even 1 year ago.

As I recall my history, they said something very similar about the gun ban in Nazi Germany (Oh Honey, that Adolf is such a nice man who has our best interests at heart). If we fail to "get all worked up" and voice our descent, this has a better chance of getting passed.

    We have dissent.

    Congress has demonstrated a descent.

    OhIjustcrackmeupsometimes.

Sadly, however, I think both are true. I agree, silence is not an option no matter how 'out there' a bill is. If every time they step over the line they get ten thousand face slaps (there are other words to describe said slap) they will think better of it next time.

News stories like this, even the pound of salt ones, don't really bother me.

They can pass all the laws they want. I have my firearms in my hands and nothing will change that.
