    Default Personal VPN Services

I have been researching subscribing to a VPN service. There are a lot of offerings out there with a wide range of pricing. When you get into the more premium services ($15 a month and up), the services look very similar, with similar bandwidth, protocol support, etc.

My primary reasons are for added security when accessing the internet via public wireless networks, and also to provide more privacy. The geography aspect is not important to me now.

Anyone here use a personal VPN service that they like, or tried any that they did not like? I am currently leaning towards VyperVPN or WiTopia both seem to get good reviews and support the OS's I use. I will be implementing on Windows, Ubuntu, and Android OS's.

I have toyed with the idea of renting a server (VPS) or doing a co-location deal with my own server to stand up my own VPN server, but that kind of defeats the privacy aspect of it and if I do decide to play with my "location", I am limited. Also it does not look like it would be all that much cheaper.

Anyone have any input/recommendations on services you have tried or use?

The list is long: IPredator or vpntunnel.se

    The rest are, basically, scams.

Both providers listed above are based in Sweden which has laws requiring they not store your data. They are the only country on earth with this type of law - so any other country can (and will) track you when push comes to shove.

I used Mullvad for a while. It's definitely the most private VPN out there. It will work with anything that uses OpenVPN.

Skimmed through them, but it looks like both of them will still have a record of non-anonymous payment. Unless, they accept BTC. Just an FYI, Mullvad is exempt from the EU's Data Retention Directive.

I have been using "Hide My Ass" but perhaps some people in here have better ideas.

Here's what I was looking for earlier:

    https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-service...dition-130302/

There's a link to the previous year's review too with more data.
