Yeah, I have two more. Another M1 and an M2, which has a hinged lid instead of a slotted one like this. The CMP has shipped a lot of surplus ammo in cans like these, God only knows where they came from and where they've been. Some of them have a bracket on the can to mount onto an M1919 machinegun, like on a vehicle mounted pintle, those cans are worth some bucks.Originally Posted by gnihcraes

I have no idea, but since it's so heavy and heavy-duty, I'd guess it's a case for some kind of sensitive, important equipment. It's already heavy as hell, so I doubt it would have really heavy contents too, or nobody could move it. If you really gotta know, Google a guy named Bill Ricca, he seems to be a specialist and dealer in all kinds of military surplus.

Whoa, I just read this closer. That "logo" is called a "flaming bomb", and is an ordnance acceptance stamp. What kind of shotgun is it? It must be a military shotgun, maybe WWII vintage or earlier. Bring photos!
