The problem with customer service gigs is the mentality that the "customer is always right". I agree with it to en extent but most people take it way beyond what they should.

Not in my line of work... I use the mentality "The customer is always stupid, doesn't understand this at all, and we have to explain it to them... slowly." But you still treat the customer respectfully and tactfully. Customer service is all dependent on fulfilling the customers needs/wants, and treating them with a level of respect, but not bowing down to them- like the food service industry, yes you are serving people, but you're not a slave.
