Default Raspberry Pi, Did you get a Slice?

Yea it interested me when it was in development but I missed its initial release. I just got mine in Tuesday so I will be in nerd heaven this weekend. The OS I downloaded is just a version of Linux for the RPi but I plan on doing a complete build later on once I can get a little more fluent with my languages. For $35 base price I think I might be able to build some cheap learning PC's for my nieces and Nephews. The mobile media center is a good idea to keep the kiddos at bay while on a long road trip. I plan on messing with some motion sensors and the cams (when they come out) and maybe automate some things in the house so I can be even more of a nerd
The whole thing reminded me of projects we use to build in digital electronics class in Hs so I'm really interested in trying some different things with it.

Same basic idea, competing brand. I think ras pi is a little more refined.

Similar concept, but the pi has an HDMI output and h.264 capable decoder hardware, so it's aimed at embedded video applications like being a media server, while arduino is just a modern and sleek take on a microcontroller.

If for some reason Roku starts screwing with me (for example if they dump Plex support because Plex allows YouTube support or because you can use Plex in some fashion they don't approve of) I plan on picking up a few Raspberry Pis and installing this on them. Honestly if I'd RasPlex would have come out before I bought my Rokus I'd probably have gone that route instead.

On a side note, there's a lot of real cool cases for Raspberry Pis ... if I ever build something with one I want this case.

I'd love to have one just to be a DLNA server for TV, with a big USB drive on it. So I can rip all my DVDs to it and get my own private netflix!

I had never heard of these before this thread, but it has my brain working overtime right now!

I will definitely have to pick a few of these up for media servers on my home network. I also really like the idea of a car media server.
