Just FYI- most commercially available OC sprays vary in SHU, thus in effectiveness. Many may say they're 25% or more OC content but may only be 500,000 SHU versus a canister with 15% but 2,000,000 SHU. Just bear in mind, not all OC spray is the same.

I personally carry a 2.0 oz FOX LABS 5.3m SHU pepper spray. IT is really hot. I got the back lash, and learned it was much hotter than Saber, First Defense, Defense Tech OC.

Fox labs is where it's at, I have yet to try anything more effective. MK9 to the face ruins your day.

5.3m? Ouch! I had a plate of wings not too long ago that were 400,000 SHU and I was on the verge of tears- how many times hotter? To the face? To hell with that, I'm not going to get on your bad side!
ETA: edited, read that wrong.... the Naga pepper is 1.04M SHU, and it's one of the hottest peppers in the world.

On that note, Taser has a program where if you use one of their products in self-defense and then have to drop it to get to safety or whatever, they'll replace it free. Copied from the FAQ at www.taser.com:

What happens if I have to use my C2 CEW to defend myself and it’s lost as a result?

Lifetime Replacement Guarantee
When an X26C, M26C, or C2 CEW is used in self-defense, the CEWs may be deployed and left behind providing the Purchaser a window of opportunity to get to safety and call law enforcement. TASER International will replace the TASER X26C, M26C, or C2 CEW free of charge, with the same product or a like product, at TASER International's option, if the Purchaser provides, within one year following the event, the following information to TASER International, 17800 North 85th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85255 Attn: Customer Service:

• A copy of the official police report documenting the incident and the loss of the product;
• Proof of purchase of the product (receipt, purchase order, or invoice);
• Check or a credit authorization for the shipping and handling fees; and

Purchaser is responsible for any expedited shipping or handling costs for the replacement CEW. A replacement product assumes the remaining warranty of the original product or 90 days from the date of replacement, whichever provides longer coverage to the Purchaser.

BEST thing to do is reinforce the front and back doors so they're harder to kick in and make sure she knows never to open the door for anyone after dark. Put bright floodlights with motion detector on front and back porch. Maybe get a LOUD alarm bell or siren she can trigger with a panic button. Never gift a dog or a weapon to someone who doesn't want one.
