    Default Suppressor affect muzzle velocity?

I'm pretty sure I've read on SH that the addition of a can does not affect MV, but my search skills are weak today. Do I need to re-chrono my load with the new can or may I assume the MV is unchanged?

If it matters, .260 Rem through at Thunderbeast 30-P.

Velocity should be close. However, double check at distance.

Your POI will be different. Within a few clicks.

I have a 21.5" barreled .260 and with the 30P, my velocity did increase just a tad, like 0.4%

POI can shift because the extra mass hanging off the end of the barrel changes its harmonics. MV can vary slightly, as there is a longer area of high(er) pressure behind the bullet now, even though the area inside the suppressor is at much lower pressure than was present in the bore.

Interesting. I knew to expect the POI change, but it didn't occur to me the MV might increase. If anything, I was assuming a decrease. Cool. I'll run a few shots over the chrono.

I assumed I would have a decrease as well. On the two loads I have been using, the POI change was negligible at 300M. Have not shot past that yet in a direct comparison. I was too chicken to put my chrono out at 100 yards, but I might get up the nerve someday. Logically, the chrono is probably safer at 100 than at 10.
