    Default Changing counties

I may be moving from arapahoe to Denver county. My arapahoe permit is years from expiring. How do I get my permit changed? Do I have to go through the whole process of applying in Denver county?

I don't think so. As it was explained to me, there is no need to redo it until it's due.

Notify the issuing sheriff within 30 days of change of address.

^^^ What Carl said. Assuming this is your first permit issued in your current county, you'll want to renew there as well when it's due.

You MUST file a change of address. Even if you are staying in the same county.

If you file after the 30 days it is a petty offense or something. If you wait till after 30 days, just be honest and still send in your paper work anyway.

I went through this when I moved up here from El Paso County. The permit is valid statewide, so no problem there. Just file the change of address with the issuing county within 30 days of moving. When it expires, you can go renew with the issuing county, or you can go through the application process anew with the county you live in. Hence why I live in Jefferson County, and my CHP is still out of El Paso County...

So you've successfully renewed with El Paso, with an address in Jeffco?

I wasn't aware of having to file the new address within 30 days, but this is how I understood it from prior discussions with those in the same situation and what the sheriff had them do. Basically, they keep the permit from the old county until renewal. Filing the address change makes sense though.

I filed my address change and they sent me a whole new card with updated home address and the same expiration date. I also filled mine approx 6 months after I moved.
