I don't watch the Daily Show, but I remember a bit they did a few years back where they had all these code pink types protesting in front of a Marines recruiting center.

The interviewer was kind of gaining their trust, getting them to talk about having the right to free speech, and right to protest, and that those rights need be protected. And then he said, "Wouldn't it be great if there were an organization out there that defended those rights?" And of course they were like "Oh yeah, that would be fantastic! They should do that! (the government should create an organization that does that)"

Posts like Elena's make me angry and offended. I looked at her Facebook; she's a college student in Georgia. Apparently a number of people have exercised their 1st Amendment rights and have bent her ear; she's closed up much of her account.

Aside from the noise pollution, I can't take much of what she says very seriously. Is it a shame that she's apparently drunk the kool-aid? Damn skippy. She's clearly privileged and is sheltered from the big bad world by being wholly indoctrinated in The Sims: College, instead of understanding what's really going on. I'm thinking she's never experienced hardship, strife, hard work, threats of war and so on. She's simply another high-spirited punk that swallows anything the media feeds her and is likely shocked that people don't agree with her.

I think I pity her, more than anything else. People that don't understand that the gift of freedom has been made to them through the sacrifices of others, are definitely poorer for it.

Shame on her. It's through shame and other attacks on the ego that this type of person learns; I hope that a veteran will be able to see if her words are as brave face-to-face as they are with the semi-anonymity of the net. Messages to her Facebook will only provide her validation and vindication.

Let her make as much noise as she likes. She's exercising her rights, and she will reap what she sows because of it. I expect there'll be some extreme mortification in her future. She is an annoying mosquito, and takes nothing away from our appreciation of our troops.

I understand how some will receive her spewing as a personal insult. She deserves your wrath IMHO, but I don't forget that she has the freedom to speak her ignorant filth and that she must be willing to stand behind her words and accept the repercussions of her actions, stance, words, etc.

I agree with you 100% Sawin, but she apparently doesn't realize that right is protected by the same people she bashes. I had a run in with a lady in front of the Whitehouse while I was on leave from Edgewood during AIT. She saw my dog tags and started calling us babykillers and poured her water bottle on one of my roommates, before I could even get a word out, he was in her face screaming and before he was done she started to cry so we pulled him away. I have no tolerance for that crap.

Just keep the snapshot of her rant and send it to any organization she is affiliated with or seeks employment with. All you have to say is, "are you affiliated with this person?"
