    - Hey, I actually got that one BEFORE I was told it was a joke. I'm not as dumb as I look. Okay, for the record, NO ONE is as dumb as I look.

So, I spoke with Darrin, the Mgr @ the CoS SW. He was surprised to hear about the Spanish language music that was playing on Saturday. I also asked him about rumors regarding Chap 11 denial. According to info he is getting, SW is on track for the Chap 11. He also indicated that the CoS store looks really secure and hopes folks will give them a chance to get their stock levels back up. They still have some uphill roads to travel, but he says that things are already improving - just slowly.

Yes, the neighborhood surrounding the Citadel Mall is predominantly Latino.*
The Sportsman Warehouse is in the parking lot on the South East corner of the mall.
2 So are you or aren't you?
Not sure why it matters but when filling out government forms that ask for my race, no I do not check the box next to "Latino" or "Hispanic" or whatever they call it. That still doesn't disqualify me from relating my experiences, or from having opinions based on those experiences. Of course I also assumed my ethnicity was obvious since in my first response I referred to myself as an "Anglo".

*don't know if this link will work, but go here.

The Citadel Mall is located inside the area surrounded by Citadel Dr. The Sportsman's Warehouse is located about where the "CIR" in "CHELTON CIR" is located. There is only one small area SW of there (East of Nevada, South of I25) where the % Hispanic is higher than it is in the area on 3 sides of the mall.

That's based on 9 year old data ... in the last 5-7 years I've noticed a significant increase in the number of Latino businesses on East Platte, so I think its safe to say that once the 2010 Census is done that those % Hispanic numbers may go up around there.

Those stats hardly qualify as to designate this a "Latino neighborhood".

Damn it! WGAF? this thread was near the bottom of the page. Almost out of site. Boycott the damn place for their behaviour and show them who the boss is.

Yes Spanish people are moving in. No you can't stop it. Pointing it out to other people want stop it either. If the stores decision to play the music offends you to the point that you didn't purchase the items you went in there to get then you have issues in my opinion.
Move on to somewhere else that's less Spanish. Maybe Maine or somewhere.

It's call the Latin-Americanizaton of the USA. It's not optimal. Our parents don't deserve it, our children don't deserve it. I'm just nutting up. How bout you?

Oh, and it's not "Spanish" people. Spain is in Europe.

When I lived in Spain, I heard american/british music about 50% of the time while off base.

Sting did a whole album of his songs in spanish and portugese. It's awesome stuff. If they were pumping that through the speakers, I would love it. Now mariachi bands? No, that would just be annoying. It's really about what caters to the primary consumer of the store. I would imagine Korn or Rage Against the Machine wouldn't fly either in SW.

Ultimately, they can play whatever the hell music they want if they have primers, powder, and ammo on the shelves for sale. The lack of that stuff is what's killing SW, not the music....

Relative to the demographics of the rest of the city it is.

    this thing is still alive??

America along w/ the world is changing everyday. It might not be for the better to your or I personally... but it's part of the cycle. It has been changing for thousands of years.... I bet them poor 'native indian' were complaining the same sh1t as the European migration started -- blogging and passing the 3 foot peace pipe around the fire.

I personally are worried about the influx of the muslim extremist into western europe and eventually US than anything else.

The only "native indians" complaining about European migration were the smart ones. The rest were saying "the world is changing everyday, it's part of the cycle".
