I've got three that I race on this track but a half dozen more of other types. The lap record is 8.8 seconds I believe (I've usually had a few beers too many to remember the lap record). The start/finish line bridge has an IR timing system connected to the computer so it tracks the cars as they roll through (assuming they've connected their transponders).

I need more details on the track. What is the material? I want to make a rally track in my basement once we move in.

The material is carpet - 100% olefin style/color Viking - Stingray, got it from Home Depot. It's the shortest pile I could find and grips really well (not nearly as expensive as the stuff they use at "real" carpet tracks). Other Man Cavers (Mile High Man Cave Racing) have tried painting concrete floors and it's just too slick. The green and white stuff is closed cell foam I got from another Man Caver who manages a foam company.

We've run our Tamiya DF-03Ra and Traxxas rally cars on it and they do pretty well. Though the overpass is a little low for anything like a Blitz or Slash, I could have made it work if I had raised it. I just didn't envision running SC trucks on it, it was built for Tamiya M03s, HPI Cup Racers and the like.

ETA: I believe I'm hosting a race on August 10th and you're welcome to come down and check it out.

My mancave is my back yard. Rc racetrack. Complete with lighting for night shenanigans.

    @ Special ED
That is a super cool track! I would love to check it out sometime, however I got rid of all my 1/18 and 1/16 stuff. All I have now are 1/10 and 1/8 SC trucks

Snowman - I don't think that's a problem. I'm sure we can find something for you to run if you want to show up (I tend to spend more time running the races than racing so my car usually sits idle all night). I'll PM you with some details so I don't continue to eat up space in this thread.

I am thinking of running 1/24th Losi brushless rally cars. I want to have a variety of surfaces for the track, carpet, foam, concrete, etc. I might go with the Losi track as a starting point.

That'll be awesome for a rally track. I like your thinking.
