Both of them will fall short compared to the one in Kansas City.

Talked to one of the assistant managers to be for the Bass Pro shop in Colorado Springs. Infamous prebble mouse was the cause of the delay on their opening. Originally it was supposed to have happened sometime in Jul.

I'm just glad they are here. The BPS is about two miles from my house and Cabelas in Lone Tree on my way to work.

If I remember correctly, they had planned a full size store in Golden in 2006-2007, even had the excavator's come out and level ground, but then a combination of Golden being Golden and bad contractors/bubble bursting, they pulled out of the deal. I think they even paid to have that Youngsfield exit on I70 redid in anticipation for higher traffic. Hwy 58 as well.

I play golf at Applewood, the adjoining property just west of the proposed Cabela's Wheatridge site.
One guy in our foursome was a city/county admin-type with all the straight scoop.

While we were waiting to tee off he related that the State wanted Cabela's to pay for ALL the I-70/CO58 interchange flyover fix, which should have been incorporated when it was first built. There was no convenient transition from EB58 to WB I-70. Cabela's said no.
After many months of legal hassles they agreed to Wheatridge, CO, JeffCo and Cabela's to each pay 1/4...Cabela's agreed.

THEN some retired attorney who had a home south of the land decided it would decrease his property value and wanted Cabela's to pay 3 time what his place was worth. They, of course, declined and decided he could have tied them up in courts for years before building, they pulled the plug.

Cabela's had spent a lot in prep too. At one time they had about a dozen earth movers leveling the property, and had put in a large pond to demo their boats, fishing gear, etc. They did it right too. Lined the pond with clay and serious plastic. Small, greedy minds torpedoed the project...sure a shame.

Just got a card in the mail for pre grand opening admission for the 14th instead of the commoners on the 15th ;->
All you need is your Cabela's VISA card and the invitation card, I imagine you could BS your way through though...tell 'em Dudley sent ya...
