sorry you experienced the theft *and* the shitty attitude at the same time.

I hope karma finds it's way around to this quickly....and you have a suitable replacement harness soon.

We left his harness and 20' lead on a fence post near the entrance, like everyone does at every dog park we go to. When we got back, someone had stolen his harness and lead.

The harness was custom made, long ago for my mantrailing bloodhound (Cletis). Now, Harry wears it as his restraint system when riding in the back of my truck. Some of you have seen the custom cage that Mtn.man made me.

When I called the park to report it missing (slim chance it was turned in, but figured I'd try), the park employee "Michelle" felt like she had to lecture me instead of try to help. She actually said "before I take that information, I need to ask you why you would leave it there". You mean, like everyone else does at a dog park? Next to the dozen other leashes on the fence? She basically told me the she didn't want to take a report, because it was my fault it was stolen. She was a pompous, self righteous snatch. Really didn't help my mood.

Anyway, I can't find a commercially available harness that I trust to keep Harry safe, so I think I'll try to buy an industrial sewing maching and make him one. Anybody here know anything about industrial / heavy duty sewing machines?

    I hate thieves.

Michelle, while i appreciate your input, may i speak to your supervisor......................... End of conversation..........................

I'm afraid I wasn't nearly that polite. Probably guaranteed that I won't get a call, in the event that it turns up.

    Thieves...

... wishful for me thinking that there is a special place in hell for people like that...

I guess it's a eye opening lesson "if it ain't nailed down... you might find it missing"... thank goodness it wasn't anything really expensive/irreplaceable, but still... I hate those people too

Thought about it. Still might. Just don't see it doing any good.

You're right. Ultimately, I left the harness unattended, so it's on me. It doesn't excuse the asshat that stole it - I'm still pissed and I'd still like bad things to happen to them. But I know that it was my error in judgement that made it possible. Feeling stupid sucks.

It was your job to watch your stuff, and it is her job to take the report if anything happens to it, regardless if it was your fault or not.

In terms of harnesses, look at either Ray Allan or Elite K9.
