    Default AR15 Car Mount?

What better place to post this question then to a bunch of AR15 owners who probably also have the same vehicles as I have! I have a 97 Wrangler and I would love to find a mount for my AR15 and I'm wondering what other folks have done. I've seen a couple that mount to the dash with a floorplate, but I'm thinking I would like it next to the door instead, there is plenty of room and the roll bar is right there to mount the upper portion to. Anyone done this or have ideas?

I would also like to be able to mount that same rifle to my 88 Bronco, except I have no idea other than the dash where I could do that. I don't want to use the floor mount systems (on either vehicle) because I use that space, if you have any good ideas for the Bronco that's also appreciated.

    Thanks!

This is interesting... But now i'm very curious! Why exactly do you want to mount your AR to your jeep? It sounds awesome!

Primarily I just want to maximize space, as when I go camping I have that little Jeep filled up when I'm going with a buddy. The other reason is that when I take a vehicle camping, it's not like I'm sticking to paved roads, I get into some pretty good off camber situations as well as super rough terrain and it would be nice to have that puppy secured and not bouncing around in a case.

Oh, and it would just be cool .

Sooo, you're not talking about something like a 50cal mount then, just something more in line with a redneck "rifle rack in the back window" type of thing?

Well, since you put it that way, yes I want a rack and not a mount, unless of course I can find a fully automatic .50cal that the Denver police won't mind me cruising around town with .

Why not mount it on the roof like Denver PD does?

There is a roll bar that goes right above your head. Couldn't you mount something right there just like some models have that light/speaker bar?

I have seen ar-15 wall mounts that insert into the mag port and lock in. you could bolt one of those to a roll bar.
