But then you live in the Peoples Republic of Boulder. 22 square miles surrounded by sanity. Used to be a nice place 20+ years ago.

I'm less than a quarter mile from a range, believe it or not. But I can't shoot at it

Law enforcement only range :/ 25 yards (or is it 50?), but they do rifle qualifications there and practice with NFA class along with handgun of course.

I am in the same boat. The range at PPCC is about 1/4 mile away. I also am next to Ft Carson so I get lulled to sleep by night fire.

I pray every day that the state will open a fancy shooting range within walking distance of my home ... so no Ms. Twomey, most red blooded American's would have no problem with one in their back yard.


Rather own a house close to a shooting range than on a damn golf course (a golf course is a waste of a perfectly good rifle range)

Althought I like golf and shooting, I prefer not living near the golf course. Few things.
- Tired of cars driving in a small community at a 15+mph of speed limit ( if +5 mph,,, guilty! )
- I dont like mosquitos!
- Theres no benefit of living in a golf community that I cannot afford to be a private member of it.


However, i do miss a shooting range at HWY 7 near Erie that got replaced by golf course.

I think you guys are confusing having a back yard that opens up to a golf course to living near a golf course. Could you imagine having your back yard open up to a rifle range? lol

No, I don't think we're confusing it at all. You DO tend to tune out things you hear repetitively. Beyond that, safety regulations probably require a buffer zone so they don't actually open up to the range in their backyard.

As I alluded to in my previous post, the tone I'm getting from the article is that they did NOT complain and voice their dissent in the range approval process. Las Vegas was one of three areas in the country most affected by real estate overevaluation and the resulting collapse. I find it far more likely they bought high and are caught in a situation where no one is buying anything in Las Vegas and are blaming the range instead of their own poor judgment.

I've lived on AF bases off and on for the last 20 years. Nothing is louder than an afterburner take off of an SR-71, nothing. I slept right through them. Before that station, I was at a F-16 base that had over 70 F-16's. Day and night afterburner take offs almost every day of the year.

I don't even hear them anymore, and before it's said, yes I passed my retirement hearing test.

I would LOVE to live that close to a nice range. That's just way too cool. I could put the saved gas money into ammo. I suspect the bitching party might just be democrats, er I mean non-gun embracing citizens. F'em.
