Interesting, and would be a cause of the problem in question. If it is, it should be easy to identify and resolve.

    That is a great artical.
I do notice that my natural hand grip places my thumb right next to the slide lock. I am going to change that and see if it solves the problem. If not I will see if i notice the bullets hitting the lock on the inside.
Do you think Springfield would fix the issue, I am not sure I want to void my warranty by attempting to fix it my self. I do have other pistols I can carry while waiting for it.

Dude, don't change your grip like the guy in the article did. It's wrong and you will regret it. Simply stop squeezing with anything past the middle knuckle of your right thumb when shooting. Better yet, just let your right thumb rest on the top of your rear left thumb. You drop your thumb under your left hand and lock it down, you will regret it.

Voiding the warranty? Maybe for that part, but for the rest of it, no way. I've seen Springfield fix stuff that they knew was both stupid and intentional simply for the sake of their name. They do it regularly. Reality check, if you send it in and say the slide stop is hitting the bullet, they will more than likely change the slide stop with another slide stop that is hitting the bullet. If this is the problem, and you do nothing then you have an inoperable gun. If Springfield changes the part to another that has the same problem, then you have an inoperable gun. If you do have this problem and you do a little careful filing, your gun will work.

If I has $50 for every gun part I've filed on, I could pay a months worth of house morgage and have some left over.

    That is a good point.
Is there an instruction guide on removing the slide stop?

I have another question regarding the Xd, I read that it was possible to shoot 9mm simply by swapping the barrel. Would the xd40 mags work as far as feeding the 9mm bullets? (this set up would just be for cheep/fun shooting)

No, you would also need a 9mm mag. The feed lip dimensions on the mags are different. You would want to look and see that the extractor isn't miss hitting the back of the 9mm ammo too. I know this is fairly easy with a glock. Don't have any experience with the Springfield XDs and changing calibers.

The 40 mags are more likely to work with .357 SIG though.

    Default XD Locking Back

Hi Danfran, Thanks for the detailed reply here. I have looked under a for any integers and all the key id fields are long integers so hopefully I should be okay there. With b I tried to just enter some null data and the db still locked so I am going to have to go back to the drawing board I think Yours, Richard
