I really liked the grip too, and the balance, but that one point about the safety just ruins it... It is exposed to everything in the pocket, when I get things out or put things in my pocket the safety sometimes disengages, or engages, I never know at what state it is at.
The reason I bought it was the way the handle extended outward where the index finger is... almost like the handle makes it's own "hilt". It works well and feels solid in my hand. It has also opened in my pocket numerous times.

Not sure about the real deal thingy or whatever. It was labeled as genuine gerber, and I bought it at the BX. just the position of where the safety is is bad design. perhaps I got a bad batch with the engage/disengage issues.

The 06 FAST is a wannabe close copy of the 06 AUTO, a fully automatic (push button) knife.

    Currently it's a Benchmade 3550 Pardue automatic

In the past it's been an AO Kershaw Leek, before that several different SpyderCo's. I miss the plastic clips they used to have.

My current EDC is a Spyderco Tenacious. I use my knife daily for stupid stuff (cutting wires, scraping gaskets off metal parts, cutting sheets of cardboard laying on metal grating or concrete floors, and, of course, the typical screwdriver/pry bar duties) so I don't carry anything too expensive. It has held up well so far. I do have to sharpen it just about every day.
