Interested in your feedback regarding installation. The manual (yes i research their instructions before buying) says you are suppose to install the rail "then" install the gas block. Which makes no sense and would make that a pain in the butt. When you installed the rail was there reason for this strange way they want you to instal it?
The installation is a bit of a pain in the arse. The barrel nut wrench that is supplied by Strike Industries is a weak POS. Yes, You do have to install the handguard onto the barrel nut before installing the gas block. The low-profile gas block I used has 2 set-screws on the bottom that secures it in place. The handguards have a place for the allen wrench to access the screws making it relatively easy to complete the installation. Depending on the type of low-profile gas block you use, it could be problematic. Strike Industries also gives you quality spacers to assit with barrel nut installation which I thought was nice. Once they're on, I absolutely love the feel and look. They are really light weight and the price is really good too. Hope this helps.

Is there no clearance / difference in the "cooling fins" at the back of the rail that would inhibit you from sliding the rail over a gas block?
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles. --Jeff Cooper"

You are correct. The internal fins block the rail from going over the gas block. It is a pain, but nothing real problematic from my experience. I've been nothing but pleased with the handguards. I plan on putting a set on my 300 Blackout upper when that build begins. For the price, you really can't go wrong IMO.

This is milled metal. Not fitting my 2012 Tacoma.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
