Alcohol is metabolized based upon how much is consumed for the person, based on tolerance, weight, metabolism and other factors- usually it's safe to say 1 hour per drink (or so). But regardless, moderate amounts of alcohol won't really inhibit your abilities 10-15 hours later. Meanwhile, THC can intoxicate and inhibit your abilities for up to 24 HOURS. That part is science. Oh, but it's safer, right? False. For an average person, one joint (the quantity varies but on average amounts) is as bad for your health as 1/2 pack of cigarettes. Don't smoke it? No problem, you're still screwed. Multiple studies have been conducted on the long-term effects of THC on people- and it has been determined that it does play a negative role in brain function and motivation. Regardless of how it is brought into the body. One study found a patient that smoked pot from 16 (with parents permission to take part in the study) to 26 showed decreased brain function, decreased motivation, mood and behavior changes, and actually did worse on cognitive function tests after 5 years of using. This test was conducted on several people of differing physical and mental capabilities and proportions. All the results found that, to put it in lay terms, the subjects showed signs of being "dumber."
How can you be an adult and believe all this bullshit at the same time? Alcohol can certainly effect you for 24 hours. It's called a hang over.

I can drive just fine hung over... I'm talking about legally not safe to drive a car. Unless a "moderate" amount of alcohol inhibits your abilities to drive 15 hours later... in that case you probably should seek counseling as your version of "moderate" is way more than what the norm is.

Instead of regurgitating what you are told, maybe do a bit of your own research on this. The studies were rigged to show that Marijuana caused a myriad of health issues. IIRC the monkey test subjects were hooked to gas masks, and subjected to marijuana smoke continuously for ~5 min. The actual data of these studies wasn't released until 10 years after "pot is the devil" campaign.

Edit to add: Show me documented proof of marijuana causing lung cancer. Should be simple enough...

Just watch the movie "Reefer Madness" to learn everything you need to know about pot.

Back in my drinking days, there was many times I was not safe to operate FEET with a hangover, much less a motor vehicle...

No matter what your textbooks tell you about THC v. alcohol, they both can have effects lasting days after last ingestion. Hell, 35 years later the mere smell of Southern Comfort makes me want to hurl...

I can drive fine with a hangover too, assuming I can even make it out of my bed, then off the toilet, then out of the shower, then out of bed the second time, then off the toilet the second time, then assuming it is dark outside by the time I get to the car and no one makes any loud noises or sudden movements.

And yes, there are times that I *should* have been severely hungover.
I've also never understood people who "forget" things after drinking.

Body chemistry can be vastly, vastly different.

I don't really drink much anymore.
I remember not understanding being black out drunk until it happened to me. I did the fresh 21 year-old drinking at the bars thing for about a year before I got black out drunk. You're not missing anything other than bad decisions and terrible hangovers.
