Default Stupid Question \ Take Down Pins

Im not a newbie to the AR but I have a stupid question...I have installed Extended Takedown Pins on my Colt to make it easier for me and my fingers to seperate the Upper\Lower...Here in lies the quandry....Is it possible to have put the Detent Pins in backwards ( is there a difference? ) only reason why I say this is the Takedown is harder to operate now than before.... all comments will be helpful......

Typically detents are not directional. More than likely the machining of the new pins is a smidge crisper than the others.
Give it some time, they should ease up a bit with use.

You just need to dry fire those takedown pins more.

Thanks...Ive never heard of them being one directional.
After I posted this I went to internet ( because its true and accurate ) and noticed if you look close enough at some, it looks as tho one end
may be flatter than the other ?????? Do you think the diff makers are slightliy different?

Well hells bells Francis, take them out and turn them around if you want to experiment.

Sounds to me like the detent holes in the extended takedown pins might be a bit big but it could be an out of spec detent (it would be a first for me but possable). Like BP said I would just let time run it's course and see if it eases up with use. Also it might be designed that way to limit accidentally snagging the pins and having you upper and lower separate, but I'm just speculating.

Did you measure the new and old pins? Both my Noveske's were tighter than an alter boy until I pounded a few hundred projectiles through the tube. Now it's a nice tight slip fit on all pins. Just shoot it and it will work itself in.

Thanks Guys for your input....I found the problem !!!! It turns out that my spring had a small " pig-tail " on the end that was impeeding the detent pin to move freely. It was binding up not allowing the detent and spring to compress. Just a quick swap out with a spare spring and I'm back in business. Now me and my fingers can use the Extended Take Down Pin with ease....Once again...THANKS
