    I have a vortex on my AR. I love it. I dont know what could beat it for the price.

    You answered it yourself. You already have a carry piece and a O/U shotgun but need a hunting rifle. Get the 700 then save up for the optics you want. In the meantime, learn to shoot iron sights like a man.

    870 would be an excellent choice. I just so happen to have for sale WITH Magpul forend .

    As for me, upgrading 700 is more fun than upgrading AR, and 1911.

    Go with Night Vision. If you are someone who camps or otherwise sleeps outside, it's more than nice to have.
