Back in 1992 at Ft Carson the CG locked down the whole base and ordered room by room searches for weapons, because too many people were shooting themselves in the barracks or others / each other in the Springs. They found an interesting array of hardware and drove several people off in cuffs from my battalion alone. It happens.

But the sign is unnecessarily insulting, to be sure.

but I also agree with the comments that this was posted on a base, and you're subject to different rules there (much as you are when in a privately owned building- no firearms allowed in the building I work in, either..)

you don't have to agree with the rules to abide by them... you have to have the rules changed...
